Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Canon ZoomBrowser or any other photo cataloging program.

Having problems installing a canon mx340 on vista. Get "error occurred while files were being copied" and then "mp drivers could not be installed" Thanks.

Do you have the latest drivers? Download them and read the following:

uninstall the driver (using Add/Remove Programs in XP; Programs and Features in Vista/Win7), then with all programs closed, including your browser, and AV disabled, tried a reinstall.
In the environment where the Firewall software operates, as the printer detection using LAN communication is inhibited, the setup may not be competed.

Preventive action:
Disable the Firewall setting temporarily, or close the Firewall software, then, perform the setup.

I'm installing Zavio CCTV (F312A Wireless IP Camera) Surveillance software into my Acer Aspire One Happy netbook. Installation done correctly with out any error. After I click on Main Console icon to start...

If you can't get the included software to work and you are looking for another option, there is a nice free webcam / IPcam monitoring program available from VitaminD Inc.

The basic version is completely free and has amazing motion detect capabilities and works great with webcams or wireless IPcams as long as you only have 1 camera to monitor.

The paid versions allow multiple cameras to be connected and monitored and allow for even higher resolutions than the free version.

Here is a direct link to the CNET Free Download page where you can read about it and download it free if you want to:

Good luck.

When I try to download the pictures to my computer I get an I/O error

Try to use the card direcctly into the PC if you are using the link connection. If so the error can be a software related one that is not detecting the camera to the PC. Uninstall the camera software and reinstall it to try.

Nikon 5600 coolpix, (old camera) reinstalled software, windows (Vista) detects when camera connects, but Nikon software does not see it. Any suggestions? Thanks

Skip the software installs.
Get a card reader/writer. Solves the problems. No software ever to install. Will be detected as a mass storage device.
Saves time and effort with any kind of digital camera.

( http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/logitech_en_amr.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=228 ) -> Unplug all the USB devices connected to the computer ( Less keyboard + mouse ) please use corded kbd+mouse if
possible rather than a cordless device. -> Go to device manager -> Delete all the USB HOST CONTROLLER -- All of them -- -> The host controller might reinstall them itslef, let the computer handle the reinstallation -> If the computer does not reinstall the host controllers, trigger the detection using the DM function " Scan for
new hardware " ( The computer with magnifier icon ) -> Once reinstalled, clean boot -> Reinstall the software if available and/or plug the hardware when needed. -> Should work.
This TB delete the usb ports " memory " means if a device as been previously flagged with error, it will redetect
