Question about Electrolux EW26SS65G Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Light comes on showing there was a power outage and beeping occurs. However, it can't be shut off. After some lenghty time(months) the same thing happens again. Electrolux has sent us several control units as replacements. The problem is then corrected.but again after a significvant time the same thing happens. This last time we are not sure that a real power outage occurred. Since we have guests and the beeping drives us crazy one of the guests suggested that I replace the current unit with one of the older units. ( I kept all the previous units). Well, it worked and no more beeping. However, that was only yesterday so it is hard to say if I won't have a similar problem again. The questions are: Is this strictly a power unit problem or could there be problem with another intregal part of the refrigerator that is causing this problem. Electrolus has sent us anothr power unit but this time they have sent us other parts connected with the refrigerator as well and tell us we have to call their authorization rep to install and check out other sources of teh problem The power unit is so easy to install: only two screws and changing of wiring lunits.

Next time this happens....unplug the control for 5 minutes then plug back in and see if the beeping quits.

It sounds as if the interruption of power is causing the alarm to go off....telling you there was a power failure. Thus unplugging the control should "reboot" the processor. If this works there should be a way to reset it instead of unplugging it. My train of thought when in this direction when you plugged in one of the older controls and the problem was not present.

Call Electrolux again and ask them to email you the user manual if you don't have should tell you how to reset the board.

In the mean time I will look around for the service manual and see what we come up with.

Please post results.

Hi, well i suspect that when the power went either out, or more likely when service was restored, the device suffered a "Power Spike, Surge, or Transient" This is an all to common thing, most people do not know how imperative it is to UNPLUG ALL electronic equipment, after the power outage, and only connect a little time AFTER re-connection to avoid any "Nasties" that will occur at the time of and soon after power is reconnected to the grid. Sensitive electronics can and will be damaged by these events as has been evidenced here.
Most likely the power supply unit is damaged, however it may indeed have gone "Deeper' into the electronics without examination one simply cannot tell.
In, my experience, over the many years, these instances i cannot recommend repair, as most often, the very damage done is of a nature that precludes repair, and demands replacement only.
A surge or spike buster device may, assist and are a worthwhile addition, and should always be used regardless on electronics connected to the Mains, however ALWAYS remove totally the connection, in future instances of power outages, to stop this from occurring again.

Had a power outage and believe a surge was sent through our dryer. Breaker is fine and have the correct voltage. The board lights up but no display in the estimated time remaining and will not start....

Ours did the exact same thing after a power outage. Our repair guy has been out 3 times, first he replaced the power board, then the motor and blower! He has to come back again with a moisture sensor now. Im begining to think he doesnt know what hes doing! By the time hes finished I will have replaced all the inside parts, Im afraid. Our dryer is only 16 months old. Did you ever get yours going? Any advice?

VCR will not show picture or menu on TV after power outage.

Hate to say this, but when power outages occur, things like vcr's are the first thing to fry. But if you feel that the vcr is fine as far as powering up, then unplug it from the wall socket for 30 minutes or so, plug back in and see results.

I plug up the ps3 and when i hit the power button it beeps

This can sometimes occur when the system is hooked into a vcr or tv through the audio video cables. Make sure to check the channel for output some tv's have channel 3 and the vcr/dvd I have to turn it on and select L1 for line 1 input. Also I have experienced the actual audio video cable you get with the PS3 sometimes goes bad, so I had to get a new one. Another reason it may be just beeping is the software update did not complete and the system shut down or power outage occurs, if the above answers don't work check sony's website for more information how to fix a corrupt system update.
