Question about Fuji FinePix A500 Digital Camera

Camera turns off when I try to take a picture!

I have a Fujifilm FinePix A500... it has been nothing but problems.  I kept getting the "card not initialized" error.  I was finally able to fix that.
After doing this I took 8 pictures... now every time I attempt to take a picture the camera just turns off.  As soon as I hit, tap, or hold down the button to take the camera, it just turns off with the lens still extended.
HELP PLEASE

The display screen goes blank and the camera shuts off when the shutter button is partially depressed (for auto focus). The batteries are fresh. The camera will not take a photo.

My camera was working fine for the first few days that I had it. The battery started to run low so I put new ones in and tried to continue taking pictures but every time I pressed the picture button it just turns off. The lens is still out but it turns off. Please help.

I have one of these cameras, it worked Ok for about a year (alhto alwasy very hungry on batteries) and now, even with brand-new batteries (not rechargables) it does the same thing. Put the batteries in, all kicks in OK. Soon as I press the button to take a picture it turns off. VERY unhappy about this. Will not ever buy one of Fuji's products again.

I had my A500 for over a year before it too stopped working with standard batteries. I now use rechargeable Duracell 2650mAH batteries and they seem to do the trick.

When turns off it means the battery is low.

Need cdrom download for fujifilm finepix a500 camera

You don't need any special software.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Camera - Fujifilm Finepix A500. The screen goes blank when taking a picture. It does not take the picture and although the screen goes blank and only comes on again when the power button is pushed the lens...

What worked for me with the same problem is to reformat your internal memory and/or picture card. First, download all your pictures saved from your camera to your computer, since the reformat will wipe them off the camera memory. Next, follow the instructions on page 75 of your manual. If you don't have it anymore, you can download it:

Hope this works for you.

My Fujifilm finepix A500 camera will not download it's photos. It was fine until a couple of weeks ago. I have tried downloading a driver fro their website but makes no difference. Help!

Consider NOT using a driver.

Can't get my computer (win xp) to detect my finepix camera

Sounds like there is no connection between your camera and your pc.
Try another USB port on your PC.
You actually do not require a driver for XP.
XP will automatically detect the camera. SP2 + 3
If all fails, get a card reader.
