If it's noisy in the motor area you could have a bad blower wheel,if it's just spinning off the shaft this would make noise and no air movement.you need to send the model number so i can see what machine you have.also when was the last time you cleaned out the dryer and vent line?if it's gas it should be done once a year, electric once every two years.if the vent line is a long run from the back to the outside,i use a leaf blower and blow out the line.remove the vent line from the back of the dryer, stick the leaf blower in it and blow it out.then unplug the dryer, pull out the filter, clean out the duct that the filter slides into and vac out the cabinet where the motor is,if you have a shop vac put it on blow and blow off the motor and you can blow all the lint from the rear to the front and vac it up so you don't have to pull the drum out.

You have a bad blower . This piece slides onto the motor shaft and pulls the heat thru the drum and out thru the vent hose . It is easily replaced ( and inexpensive if you do it yourself ) by removing the front of the dryer .

Does not get hot enough

Some dryers take fifty forvers to dry clothes if the blower wheel is loose. Usually hear a rattle nd the filter will be warped from the over heating. Once she overheats from improper airflow she shuts down the heat. Takes a long time to dry but it eventually does do it. Replace blower wheel this is on norge style dryers with filter inside door. On other models what Floyd said in his links..

My dryer won't dry

This particular dryer has a blower wheel that is plastic. Over time the wheel gets wobbly and loose. If you hear a rattle that could be the loose blower wheel. This causes the dryer to overheat and take 3 times as long to dry clothes because it trips the limits. To get into the dryer and find out you need to first remove the door. My GE electric dryer has been making a loud rattling and squeaking noise. Now it is taking a lot longer to dry the clothes. Model # DBSR453EB2WN

As you can see in the diagram the heating element is on the back side of the deflector plate. I would WAG that something got past the deflector and is rattling around between the heater assembly and deflector plate. OR something has come loose and is doing the same thing in that area of the machine. When you have it opened up you should also check the bearing and replace if there is any wooble in it and if not lubricate thoroughly.

My dryer has started to make a loud rattling noise when drying. It works fine but the rattling noise is coming from the lower back part of the unit and nothing seems to be loose. What can I do?

Amana Dryer takes a long time to dry and is making a rattling sound

Could be a problem with the thermostats..or the heating element.
The rattling sound could be the dryer rollers needing lubricant on the shaft and bearing.

GE Harmony electric dryer model DPGT750EC1PL- very little heat - small rattle - takes hours to dry load of laundry... any ideas?

Check the following to address this issue.

Note: Normal drying time for a dryer is about 45 minutes (some may take up to an hour).

1. Venting
Make sure the dryer vent hose, as well as the rest of the vent duct, is not clogged.

Unless regular maintenance is performed, chances are there is a lot of lint accumulated inside the dryer. This might affect the drying time and could be a fire hazard. Make sure to have your dryer cleaned regularly. Because this might involve taking most of the dryer apart, it is recommended to have a qualified appliance repairman perform this task.

2. Thermostat
There are a couple of cycling thermostats inside the dryer. If one of them breaks down, it might affect the dryer's performance. Replace the defective thermostat.

3. Heating element
A heating element might only be partially burned out, in which case it would still work but will take longer time to dry the clothes. Replace the element if found defective.

Takes almost 4 hours/timed cycles to dry 1 load of bedding/sheets

most of the time your complaint is the home owners house venting.run a load with the venting detached[it wont hurt a thing] if ok then must clean venting till dried as well as with out venting.if still long dry times first must make sure air ways in dryer are clean[should have good air flow at back if hand held there] and may need to remove front to clean lint filter area.and inspect blower ,making sure mounted to shaft and not worn in the center[blower key way, inside the hole where motor shaft goes thru blower]you dryer only has one element so if you have heat its heating.if you did all above and have problem still can be electronic[thermostats, timers etc........but i have fixed 1000s of dryers and their having problems are rarer.i hope that helps God bless ,tom
