How do u life up the saw sleeve (the thing u move to cut the wood) on my Kobalt 10-in 15-Amp Sliding Compound Laser Miter Saw

If your saw is completely intact, meaning no missing or damaged parts, the blade guard should rotate out of the way of cutting as the saw head is lowered to make a cut. You didn't give your model number but there should be a push rod or link plate from the pivot point on the base to the blade cover that pushes the guard out of the way as the head is pivotted downward. If you have the cutting head locked down to make sliding cuts the guard should be up and out of the way. If this isn't happening you may have broken or missing parts of the guard system.

Problem appears to be the blade guard 'hanging-up' on the down cut. at the very beginning of the action the body of the saw sticks and only after briefly helping the guard up manually does the saw...

first make sure the blade guard is correctly tightened. then if that is correct you have a problem with the link bar and the center plate of the guard. they might be worn or not smooth, I generally try to sand both surfaces cleanly and apply a dry lubricant to them to ensure proper movement. If that does not work they would need to be replaced.

I lost the wrench to my hitachi g12sr3 grinder. how do i remove the wheel?

Place the grinder on a steady work surface and use a punch. So that you do not distort the nut find a punch that fits nicely into one of the holes. Hold the punch with vice grip and rap on the side of the punch close to the nut. One or two quick hits is all that you need. If the blade turns as you hit and the nut does not free, Either have a friend hold the lock button or lock the blade with two pieces of wood and vice grip (wood on each side of the blade and clamp on vice grip, then let turn till it hits one side of the guard. Good luck

Had the same problem with the dewalt, either the lifter arm is bent just enough or some thing is worn just enough, we put a zip tie on the part where the saw comes up to rest and it works fine.

The motor is not on the same plane as the slide and so the blade is coming through slightly sideways. You will have to look for the mounting bolts for the motor and see if you can turn it slightly clockwise to true the blade to the slide. It would be great if you could mount a dial indicator on the table and move the blade past it and see the difference between the front edge and the back edge of the blade. Unplug it first. hope this helps. If you lived close by I would come over and help you...Jeepfxr

I'm trying to figure out if I need to hold the lower blade guard up while the saw is running...there is no lock for it

No you do not need to holde the lower blade guard up. It should be spring loaded and move upward as it engages to piece being cut. depending on what you are cutting, you may need to hold it up to start the cut, but then it can be let back down while cutting. It is a safety feature designed to keep as much of the blade covered as possible during use.

Change blade

OK first raise the cutting head. Loosen the screw that holds the guard in place and move out of the way. Find the spindle lock on the right hand side of the gearcase and turn blade by hand (UNPLUG SAW FIRST) until it locks. With the wrench supplied with saw put it on the blade bolt and turn it clockwise to loosen, it has left hand threads, remove outer flange and blade. Let me know it you need any more help

Grinder problem

* The base plate can be tilted to make angled cuts. Most saws adjust from 90 degrees to slightly less than 45 degrees, making it possible to cut bevelled ends on boards for corning attachments, hip-roof rafter cuts, and even miters. Most saws are equipped with a thumbscrew or lever to loosen the bolt which keeps the saw blade on the correct angle for the cut you are making, located on the front of the saw. Some are also equipped with a scale which indicates the blade angle, from '0' (90 degrees, or square to the board surface) to 45 degrees. * The blade can be set to the depth required for individual cuts, from less than 1/8 inch to the full depth the blade is capable of penetrating. The lever or thumbscrew which locks the base plate at the desired height is usually located at the rear of the motor on the left side. * Many circular saws are equipped with a ripping fence, to guide the blade as you make a rip cut along the edge of a board, giving you a straighter, parallel cut. * Dust ejector. A few newer saws are equipped with a dust ejector to blow the sawdust away from the operator's face and from the mark where the cut is being made. * Laser tracking light. Some newer saws are equipped with a laser that projects a bright, red line down the path of the blade travel. These can also be purchased to retrofit on older units that are not factory equipped with them. * Blade guard. This should be considered a essential safety feature on any saw, and has two parts, the fixed guard over the top of the blade, and the floating guard, which rolls out of the way as the saw is pushed into the work piece. Some have a handle so the blade guard can manually be lifted for plunge cutting or easier viewing of the cutting mark.
