Hi,

You can download the ISO to any Torrent site, however this is not suggested, most of the time this doesnt work. Most of the portable is actually using OEM Operating System. The best possible way is to contact the manufacturer and ask for the Recovery Disc. At the same time most of the laptop nowadays had a built in partition to access the recovery partition and get back to factory state. My suggestion is to contact the manufacturer and verify if the portable had a built in partition that you can access, if none then request for the Recovery Disc.

I hope this will give you an idea how to resolve the issue.

thank you for choosing Fixya.

You may have a recovery partition on the hard drive , which will contain a copy of vista . Please reply with make and model of laptop , model number is found on a label on the bottom of the laptop

LOST WINDOWS XP HOME EDITION CD, HOW DO I GET ANOTHER OR DOWNLOAD IT

You can't. It is proprietary software from Microsoft and they guard it religiously. Borrow a CD from a friend who has the *exact* same edition you have and make a copy. Then if you need to re-install, the Certificate Of Authenticity Key number (COA) on the sticker on your computer should let you install. For desk top computers it is usually stuck to the side or back of the case. On laptops, it is on the bottom. That COA number is your proof that you paid for the operating system when you bought the machine. Even if you bought it used.

I lost my cd of my laptop and i need to reformat it,how can i reformat with out the cd containing my windows vista home premium?

Hello :

I have an idea but I don't know if it's legal in your country or not !

The idea is that you can download windows vista using a torrent client . After that you can burn it on a CD then use the CD for reformatting .

If that is not clear then contact again by commenting please !

I lost my cd cover so i dont have my serial number for vista ultima

If vista is still installed then you can use the program WinGuggle to view the product key /serial :
http://winguggle.wikidot.com/Download

If vista has been removed or formated then there is no way of finding the key unless you find the box or buy another one.
Also make sure the licence isnt stuck on the computer box somewhere ,usually on the top ,side or back of the case.

Good Luck

Please rate answer if it worked if not then let us know.
Thanks.

Sound card

That was a dodgy job,
the licence for windows XP installed by this guy is not genuine and can get you in troubles with Windows updates.
If you have a valid Windows XP licence (check the sticker at the base of your laptop), you should reinstall XP home using the licence number on the sticker.
If you do not have a licence, well I cannot talk here...

Regarding the sound, that is not a big problem, you just need to download and reinstall the drivers for your laptop.

Post a new question on Fixya, giving details on your laptop make and model, you will get the link to download for drivers.

I will be offline for the following few hours.

Don't forget to rate the solution appropriately.

Thanks

Reset my acer aspire 6920 to factory settings

This is a tried and tested way to recover it takes quite long but here goes: (remember to backup all your documents first)

First you will need your Windows Vista Home Premium licence key the easiest way is to boot to safe mode using F8 then use a U3 stick USB drive with this U3 WinkeyFinder installed to find and save your Genuine Licence and also backup your Windows Activation file you will need this for later.

1.Install your Windows Vista Home SP1 operating system using the normal method with your install CD use you Genuine Key found using WinKey. Then restore you activation file using Winkey on the U3 drive.

2. Dowload the Windows Vista SP2 Patch CD from the Windows Website.

3. Reload all you drivers using this excellent Aspire 6920 recovery CD from WinGuides. It will cost you £10.

All done. if you dont have a Windows Vista SP1 Install CD then you will also have to download one which you can do legally as you already have a Genuine Licence if not check using this MGA Tool

Hope this helps please rate !
