At best you can recycle. Once the skin of the coating is compromised, there is little or nothing you can do to re-coat the surface with a coating such as the factory coating.

I use pans with compromised seals as a double boiler when making candles. I put my wax pot in the frying pan, fill with water, then melt my wax. I do not care of the pan gets wax on it because I no longer use it for cooking.

I also use larger frying pans pans with compromised seals under the car when I drain oil. I allow the oil to drip (provided it is less than 4 qts.) into a plastic milk container that I cut the top off of. I set the plastic container into a large frying pan that I no longer use. The handel on the pan makes it easy to slide out the plastic container once it is full of oil. I then take a funnel and transfer the oil into another milk jug or old 164 oz laundry detergent bottle that still has the threads for the plastic cover in tact. I mark it used oil and set it aside in the corner of the garage for when our community allows for the annual oil and chemical waste pick up.

My dad was an avid hunter...he used old frying pans for target practice when on the country land...he'd hang pans from the handel and shoot at the pans he hung.

Sorry this is the best I could do.

Being a mom that has gone though this enough times....I removed all my metal utensils from the drawer next to the stove with plastic ones hoping my kids would grab the closest which are now plastic that is heat tolerant.

Can you freeze raw potatoes and how do you do this?

i assume you want to pre-prepare chips for big family gathering? or for any period of time.

you need good freezing unit
potatoes
chips cutter
knife
3ltr (1 gallon) water with bit of salt and bit of vinegar in it
5kg (11lb) potatoes
table spoon

method:
water solution: to 3ltr (1 gallon) of water add and solve about 6 table spoon of salt and about same amount (6 table spoons) of vinegar (this solution will prevent blackening of the potato cuts), i am adding as well about 3 spoon of sugar to the solution, it allow liquid to cling better to the surface of potatoes, water should be cold, even few ice cubes in it will help
1. wash well your potatoes from debris, sand and whatever junk, remove unsightly, damaged or rotting bits from the potatoes
2. if you have chip machine or slicer - use it! chips should be not thicker than 12mm (1/2"), try not make them thinner than 3mm (1/8"), i do not bother with skinning them, but you may if you have masochistic tendencies. you can do that with knife as well, but will take longer. chips can be cut as straws, plates, sticks. waffle or whatever pattern you have in mind
3. chopped chips drop into the water solution and frequently stir as to allow all surfaces to be covered and prevent browning/blackening of the surfaces (this is oxidation of the surface, it is not poisonous but looks ugly)
4. after all potatoes were used, strain them from water, shake excess water and spread single layer on greaseproof (baking) paper or any other non-stick surface
5. your produce now need to be transferred to the deep freezer and frozen, minimum temperature should be -18c (0f), preffered will be -32c (-25f), if you are living in climate where these temperatures are outside, just put them outside...
6. after deep frozen (about 6h to 12h) divide them and pack them in sealed bags, in suitable portions

that way prepared chips can be stored for months, and if at lower temperature, even for years.

to fry:
have suitable fat at temperature of about 185c (365f), or whatever settings on your fryer is, you do not need defrost them, just directly from the fridge to the fryer, from the moment when they float, about 2min or until golden brown

enjoy!

if you like the recipy - why not vote for it?

Is it possible to restore the teflon surface of teflon coated pans on which the surface has become scratched (in this case Jamie Oliver Tefal Frying pans)

No. There is no effective repair procedure for the pan once the teflon coating has become scratched down to the bare metal or begins peeling off.

You can continue to use the pan safely, but the non-stick surface will not be as effective as an undamaged coating would be.

Never use metal forks / spatulas / utensils on a teflon coated pan.

Instead try using thermal rated plastic, teflon, or wooden spatulas which will not scratch the pan coatings.

Good luck.

Try Prestige Housewares. If they don't do it, perhaps they can put you onto someone who can. Otherwise send someone out to a shop like Boardman's, let them look around the frying pans etc and look for a local manufacturer.

I have Ultrex II cookware. the nonstick interior is peeling off several of my pans and getting into the food. very disappointed. hope it is not a health problem.

most of this is teflon plastic , you have probably eaten worst . but there is a spray replacement to re-coat your cook work. just heat high and spray on and cool off and done non-stick again foe a few years at least . some can be purchased @ Walmart. or on Ebay hope this works out for you. use only plastic or wooden spoons etc, not metal it scraps it off again ....... >

I have a black sticky residue on the non stick surface of my cooks essentials 12 inch frying pan. I can not clean it off and the non stick properties of the pan is gone, I think due to this surface...

Go to epinions.com, type your product and find you are not alone. Besides, as there is no cure to baldness there is no such thing as a perennial non stick pan. All coatings invented eventually succumbs to the wear and tear produced by temperature changes, contact with food and related chemistry, detergents, scrapping, etc. Consider the possibility that some of that non stick material may be ingested unconsciously.

I have a 12inch cooking pan. stainless steel nonstick. cannot use. non stick surface is comming off.

Howdy, unfortunately, when that happens it is the end of the service life of the pan. If it is a recent purchase, and you feel its a warranty issue, we would be happy to find the contact information of the company for you. If this is the case, please hook us up with the make and mode and we will get going on it for you.

If it is an older pan, there is no safe or practical recoating treatment available.

It's arcing due to the food being attached to the mica plate. It needs to be serviced by an authorized technician. Don't use it or you can break the microwave valve.

Microwave turntable

The solution is very simple. Unplug the microwave first. Remove the round dish. Remove the circular riing with the rollers and set aside with the dish. Carefully with a butter knife, pry up the coupler and set aside. Examine to make sure it isn't broken or cracked where it slips over the motor shaft. Remove 5 Phillip head screws from the bottom pan and it hinges down out of the way exposing the motor. Remove 2 screws holding the motor, slip off the plastic dual flat connector and slip back onto a new motor $52.25 + shipping from GE parts. Remember your actual MW Model number is NOT XL-1800 but it is on a metal tag inside the MW on the left side. Put the motor screw in as removed so the shaft is free to stick up the hole in the bottom of the MW. Put the pan screws back up, put the coupler on, the ring in and then the dish and line the slots of the dish up with the star coupler so it catches. Turn on MW, touch the turntable button and make sure it is "ON" and not "OFF" and it should be, with the door shut, turning like a quiet little top as new.
