There is a problem with your graphics chip, if it is still under warranty then return it to microsoft, if it isnt then you will need it to fixed professionally as this is not something that can be fixed by a home user as the chips needs reballing as its a dodgy connection between the CPU and GPU due to a short or bad connection

My xbox said error 74 and i dont know whats wrong with it??

Hi,

"E74"error code is caused by a memory storage device attached to the Xbox 360 encountering a hardware error. You can try to remove the HDD and restart the console without it, if the E74 code won't appear it means that you need a HDD replacement. But if it still does appear, there is a general hardware failure in the system and it might require servicing. You can contact Microsoft Xbox Support for it to be fixed, out of warranty console will be charged $99 dollars by the way. The warranty period is three years.

Thank you !!

Do you get an error code on the bottom of the screen? e.g. E74, E73, E68 ? If yes, what is it?

Getting error code E74. What does that mean??

means the switch inside your device is off.... tear off ( unscrew ) the bottom hatch ( or top ) inside are a bunch of devices. look around for 2 small batteries hooked together with glue... lift them up and underneath is a red switch.... flick it on..... put everything back to normal ( dont gorget the batteries.... if you dont put the batteries back done exactly where they were, your xbox or ps3 or whatever may blow..) now you are ready to play!!

Error code E74

Here is what the E74 means courtesy of the xbox scene message board:

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=484726

From my experience it has to do with the two chips on the board overheating. It also explains on the board on what to do.

Problem with my xbox 360

Hi,

error code E74 probably means that there's something wrong with your so called 'scaler chip' (wich is located near your AV-cable connector).
It can also be caused by a faulty AV-cable so check that first.
In some cases it is a problem with the graphical processing unit and may be repairable by doing the so called 'x-clamp replacement'
A tutorial on how to do the 'x-clamp' replacement: http://xe.brothersoffreedom.com/en/tutorial.php?n=xclampeng
