Question about Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 Digital Camera

1 Answer

I cannot delete some pictures from my DMC-TZ10 camera for some reasons which I don't undrestand. It says "This motion image cannot be played". Even though I have deleted all my pictures in the memory card, those 7 pictures still remain. Please advice me how to delete those pictures because it's kind of annoying to see those blank images. Thank you for your assistance.

If you do a complete format of the card, that should do the deed.

If you have the pics you want to save safely downloaded to your computer and you just want to erase the entire card, just go into the set-up menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions.

How do I put the date stamp on, On Lumix DMC-TZ10 ?

The date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.

Panasonic lumix DMC-TZ10 SOFTWARE

Try the free photo cataloging/editing program Picasa.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use the aforementioned Picasa.

TZ10 has dust inside the lens after 12.5 months of use.

All lenses have dust inside them. As long as the pictures are not affected, don't worry about it.

When I connect my Lumix DMC FZ45 to my Laptop, I am unable to delete images on camera card with Laptop software, because it is "write protected". How can I change this?

Look at the memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

I recommend against deleting images on the card via your computer. If you want to delete a few pictures, do it from the camera. If you want to delete all of them, format the card in the camera instead. FixYa is full of people asking how to salvage pictures from cards which have undergone repeated write/delete cycles without formatting.

I think the easiest thing to do is to put the memory card into a card reader on your computer, copy everything off of it that you want to keep (excluding the problem files) and then try to delete the problem files using your computer. If this does not work, I would reformat the memory card, as these file seem to be corrupted. I would also suggest getting a new memory card, because they do go bad, and could corrupt pictures and videos that are important to you.

First, try to delete the movie from the computer - just navigate to it and select it, and press the delete key. If that doesn't work, use the format function of the camera to reformat the memory card (obviously this should delete everything, including the problem one).

If reformatting causes the file numbering to restart from 0001 and this messes with your personal filing system, you may be able to take one picture, use your computer to change the name of it with the 'rename' function to the number you want to continue from, and then start taking pictures again. (Many cameras will notice the numbered file, and continue the numbering from there; however, I can't guarantee that yours will do this.)

On playback, I get the message this motion image cannot be played, why?

Each video recorded on camera creates a thumbnail picture file which is linked to the movie file, but is stored in another folder. When you delete the movie file on camera via PC, this thumbnail file will be become "orphaned", left in the camera and causes this error message "this movie image cannot be played". You also cannot delete it! At this stage the only solution is to first make sure you do not have any remaining pictures left and format the sandisk. From then on, never delete the movies in camera from PC but only direct from the camera. Posted by Forest.
