First thing to check is the timer, remove the bottom kick plate,on the left side you'll see a knob,if you can turn it by hand turn it slowly or use a screw driver and turn it until it clicks,it could be stuck in defrost,if the compressor runs then you need to change out the timer.if nothing happens turn the timer until it clicks go in the rear of the machine, unplug the fridge, remove the bottom rear panel and you'll see the compressor, there's a start device on the compressor and they do fail.remove the clip and before you remove it look and see where it clips on to,so when you have to put it back on or replace the part you know where to clip it again.slide off the start device, shake it,if you hear a rattling noise like a piece is broke off inside it or if it smells burnt this is your problem, the part number is W10189190 and it's like 20 dollars.when you call your parts store, give them the model number off the fridge and give them the p number and they will make sure the part number i gave you is from what you are discribing it sounds like the compressor isn't running,is this correct?and the machine is getting warm.when you change out the start device and if the compressor still doesn't start then you have a bad compressor and most likely you'll need to change out the machine.let me know what you find

also,if you think the compressor is running, feel it,is it hot?you can check the condenser fan motor to make sure that's working, you can read it out with a meter but if it's melting out inside like you say it sounds like the compressor isn't running and for 20 bucks i'd start with the start device

Sweating and condensation just above the door

If you see a switch inside the refrig about , click to " save energy " , click it to " not save energy " . This will turn a heater on behind the strip , which will keep moisture from being between the frig and freezer door .

Water line stopped pouring. where is a good place

Remove the toe plate at the bottom of the refrig . Follow the water line about 6 " to the connector . Push in on the white ring while pulling out on the small line . Press the dispensor for water , and see if a steady stream comes out from the line under the refrig . If so , then the water line inside the door is frozen . If not , then the solution , is to replace the dual water inlet valve behind the refrig . This is the piece where the wall water line connects to on the refrig . If the line in the door is frozen , you need to lower the freezer temp , reconnect the connector by pushing the line , back in the coupler . May take several days to thaw . Or , if you have a compressor , you can try blowing the line out , yet still turn down ( warmer ) the freezer temp .

Why am I not getting any water from door dispenser for model GSS23KGSA BB

Pull refrig out , and remove the back panel . At the water valve (piece the wall water line connects to , push up on the white ring and pull the LARGER line from the valve . Activate the water dispensor and see if water comes out of the valve . If no water , replace the complete water valve . If water comes out , reinstall the hose by pushing back into valve , and remount valve and rear panel . Push refrig back into place . Remove the bottom kick plate and disconnect the water line about 6" under front , from the coupling (pushing in the ring and pulling hose ). Press for water again . If no water comes out , probably frozen resevoir behind the refrig crispers , so turn refrig temp slightly warmer for a few days , to unthaw (or use hairdryer) . If water shoots out from hose , then water line inside door is frozen . This would be a more difficult procedure to follow . You can try adjusting freezer temp slightly warmer for a few days to see if it will thaw . If it doesn't thaw , come back to this thread with " water in door frozen " and myself or another expert will be glad to help you .

Refrig and freezer not getting cold

HI, Can you hear the compressor running? Does it click like something is trying to start but can't? It sounds like the compressor is not running. The compressor should have a 5 year warranty. They are having problems with these compressors so, you might want to call Amana and see if it is under warranty. I hope this gives you some help. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

check freezer for frost build up and if fan blowing, check condenser make sure clean, and fan blowing, check vents in refrig. make sure no blockage, freezer control should be in the middle setting, you can try turning that to Warmer freezer allowing MORE air to refrigertor side.
