Round bits are not compatible with the Ryobi impact drivers. You need the hex shank "quick connect" bits and accessories. There is an adapter available. it is basically a regular style of keyless drill chuck with the quick connect hex shank that should fit right in to your Impact.

Make sure the chuck is loose then clamp the drill bit in the vice and give the drill a straight pull ,once its out then put some engine oil down the chuck and let it soak in ,not that fish oil spray stuff .

SOURCE: I have a Hitachi WH 18 DFL cordless impact driver, which I love. I was doing a little bit of heavy drilling, and now the drill bit is stuck. The sleeve extends as if to release the bit, but the bit do
My guess is that the bit twisted a little in the bit holder so the steel ball is bound. If the collar moves you could try a slide puller on the bit and see if you can impact it out with the slide puller. Or you could take the bit holder apart. There is a retaining ring that holds it all together right on top. Pull that off and a washer, spring and the collar will come off. Becarefull to watch for the steel balls on the spindle. They WILL fall out! Now hopefully the bit will come out. If not it may need to be twisted in the oposite direction that it got stuck when you were using it to break it free. Hope that helps and good luck!

Testimonial: "Problem solved!"
If the motor is spinning but the bit isn't you have one of two problems. The armature has gear teeth on the end to turn the transmission. If they are stripped out you need a new armature, part number 16-01-3020. If the armature teeth are OK, you need a gear box assembly, part number 14-30-0920. If you don't have a tool repair shop near you to get parts from, you can find them on sites like www.ereplacementparts.com where prices are fair but you do have to pay S&H.
