Sounds like the receiver in your opener has quit working. Unless you break in you need to call a door technician. They can drill a hole in the door, use a special tool to pull the manual release and open the door. You should then have them install a keyed manual release if this ever happens again. They can also repair or replace your opener.

Sounds like it has lost signal strength and the door cuts it down to the point that the receiver never gets the signal when the door is in the way. If it did that before you replaced the battery then you will have to replace the keypad.

Garage door opener keypad stopped working. cannot reprogram it.

It could just be you need to replace the battery.
The warning light might be a "battery low" warning - advising you to replace it!
If it stops flashing, the battery has died altogether.

Keypad only works when closing door

MANY OF THE NEWER UNITS WILL CLOSE FROM THE KEYPAD WITHOUT PRESSING THE CODE - OR USING THE WRONG CODE.

WHEN YOU REPLACE THE BATTERY YOU MUST REPROGRAM THE KEYLESS TO THE OPENER.

HOPE THIS HELPS
