Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

There is always a chance, albeit I would suggest, a slim one that fine sand could do a little damage to the impeller blades of the drain pump. You should be able to see the blades if you remove the drain filter and look inside the drain pipe. It does sound though as if you have got rid of any sand which was left anyway ;-0)
Good luck,
John C

I want to buy sand toys that come in a bag for easy beach use. Any ideas?

Amazon sell a cheap sand toy beach bag that is made from plastic so it's really easy to just rinse out when it gets dirty or sandy.

Is it worth buying beach toys for my nieces and nephews or will they just be happy to play in the sand?

When kids don't have anything to play with, they make do with what they have, but these days there are some brilliant sand toys around that you can use on the beach or in the sand pit. You can get everything from sand toys that help you haul, trawl and build, to toys for throwing games etc. I'd say it's well worth investing and your family will be very grateful.

Odor problems with whirlpool front load washer

Is the smell of mildew?

Run the washer on empty with beach and soap.

This is a common problem when the front door is left closed after use.

When the washer is not in use leave the front door cracked open. This will help in preventing mold & mildew.

The rubber on the washer is getting this sand-like film on it. Why am i getting this?

If there is sand or sand-like sediment in the washer and it did not arrive there from any item(s) washed in it prior, it arrived via the water supply. This means it came from either the water supply or from the pipes in the house, if the pipes are corroded old steel or iron pipes. If it came from the water supply and/or the piping system and other water using appliances. Check the aerators on the sink faucets and inside the toilet tank. If any of those locations have the same problem, it may be the water supply or the water piping system. In those cases, other major problems exist, which will not resolve the washer problems.

Some of that "grit" may actually be coming from your washing detergents. Try running a cycle through with hot water only.
Then make sure the seals are clean. Try another load and see if the symptoms return.
Good luck!

Is there supposed to be a sediment type material, like sand, in the drainage pump area right after the big black hose that comes off the bottom of the washer?

No, that's an accumulation of sediment from your clothes and/or your water supply.

The good news is that you can simply lower the drain hose and flush out the sediment accumulation. Then you can run another wash cycle with some cold water and try to get as much out as possible. If you can, you can disconnect the discharge hose at the pump body and flush it out by hand.

The issue is to figure out if you're getting all that sand from the clothes being washed or from your water source.

Sand will hasten the wear and tear on most any machine, so unless this washer is at a beach house, where you tend to get alot of sand in washers, by the very nature of towels, etc., you'll want to address this problem.

If you're on a private water well, you would be well advised to install a whole house water filter to help minimize the amount of sediment you're getting into your washer. If you're at a beach house, try to shake out the towels and other clothes before putting them in the washer to get as much sand out of them as possible.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

I just did a load of laundry at my mom's beach house. Second load so far is fine, however, first load seemed to leek from underneath. All water/drainage connections were dry. We moved and cleaned area and...

If all connections were dry, the water may have overflowed the top of the tub during a spin /rinse cycle. That could happen if there was a lot of water (i.e. set for large load) and a small amount of clothes.

Beach towels sopping wet after machine done spinning

The washer will not proceed into high speed spin with just two large beach towels in the basket. The washer is detecting a out of balance condition, and remains in low speed spin. Solution? Try adding more items into the basket. With only two towels, there is not enough mass to balance the washer. With more clothing or towels, there is more items for the machine to balance, and reach full speed spin.

The only other thing that could cause this, would be if the water in the tub is not completely draining in the time allowed. This washe does not have a cleanout, and checking for an obtruction in the pump is difficult. I would go with the more clothes first, then see.

Does it need regular cleaning?

Hi,
'
Sand generally has no effect on the electronic side of the camera, however it will definitely can cause problems with the mechanical aspect of the camera such as the zoom lens. this can be removed with a can of compressed air.

Suntan lotion likewise should not be any problem except for smudges on the housing/casing and especially bad for the lens. Additionally, the lotion would help the sand adhere to crevices and nooks of the camera. Wiping should get you just fine.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
