Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
That information I would have expected to have found in the washer manual OR received from the supplier/vendor when it was delivered!
I remember from our Bosch that there were a couple of transport bolts easily visible when the top was removed.

The free wheeling body should come off easily; be sure to discard the old gaskets

  1. Remove and discard the gasket.

To install:

  1. Place a new gasket into position on the front axle hub. Install the free wheeling hub body with the cones washers and nuts. Tighten the nuts to 23 ft. lbs. (31 Nm).
  2. Install the bolt with washer, tighten to 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).
  3. Apply multi-purpose grease to the inner hub splines.
  4. Set the control handle and clutch to the free position.
  5. Place a new gasket into position on the cover.
  6. Install the cover to the body with the follower pawl tabs aligned with the non toothed portions of the body.
  7. Tighten the cover mounting bolts to 7 ft. lbs. (10 Nm).shinehutt_42.gif

My toilet only leaks when flushed. It seems to be coming from the connection at the tank. The tank is not cracked and a new hose from tank to shut off valve has been installed. The toilet is only 4 years...


If you have 2-part toilet, then tank is attached to bowl with 2 bolts.
Look inside tank and you can see bolts with rubber washers located on either side of flush valve.
The 2 bolts hold tank and bowl together and between tank and bowl is a washer called the spud washer.
So spud washer could be leaking ... or 2 bolts could be leaking.

1) If bolts are leaking, there is usually dripping all the time, and drips are visible on bottoms of bolts
If spud washer is leaking, then tank could leak only when tank is flushed.

2) First thing to try is tightening nuts on the 2 bolts. Nuts may be loose. Tighten nuts a few turns, and check if toilet still leaks.

3) To fix a spud washer, you usually need a new generic one from hardware store.
Newer tanks with 1.6 gallon flush have special sized spud washer.

If you cannot find new spud washer, re-use old one and smear retorseal on it during re-assembly to make sure it seals. Rectoseal is good for many home plumbing repairs. More about that in a moment.

4) To take apart tank: Disconnect supply line to tank. Empty water out of tank. Remove nuts from bolts. Lift tank off. Wash out tank with hose. Make sure there is no sand or sediment left in bottom that might clog up flush holes located inside bowl after tank is re-assembled.

5) Remove old spud washer, and put new one on. Do a google-image search for 'spud washer' if you need more photos. New spud washer fits over flush valve. That's it. And then reassemble tank.
If you want to apply rectorseal to washer, put washer on as shown in photo above. Then smear-or-gawm rectorseal over area of washer that sits on bowl. Rectorseal will make sure there is no more leaking.

The tank leaks from the two bolts that hold tank to bowl. I replaced bolts and the rubber gasket (it has ears). Slow dripping from two bolts.


Under the heads of the two bolts (inside the tank) there should also be rubber washers. Remove the bolts, clean the bolt holes (in the tank) thoroughly (a nylon scouring pad works). If the rubber washer aren't new, replace them. If the bolts aren't new, replace them too. While you have it apart, thoroughly clean the surfaces where the large rubber gasket seats too, in case your leak is coming from there. If cleaning and new bolts and washers doesn't fix it, you might try some plumbers putty or bathtub silicon caulk (not on the large gasket). Coat the two rubber washer generously all over. Good luck.

How do you change the oil on a 1985honda aspencade goldwing?


Center stand the motorcycle.First place your pan under the oil filter cover under the front right corner of the machine. Using a six point socket loosen the filter cover bolt and remove the cover. Dump out the oil in the cover being careful to save the spring and the washer that is stuck to the filter.Many Goldwings have lost there washer in a previous oil change , if lost replace the washer. If you desire change the o-ring on the bolt and the o-ring on the cover. Put the bolt back into the cover and place the spring first over the bolt, then the washer, then the filter , so the spring is pushing the filter against the engine. Put the new filter onto the motorcycle and snug up the cover bolt just enough so the oil wont leak out. Do Not Over Tighten The Cover Bolt. Now place the pan under the right rear corner of the motor. You will find a horizontal bolt near the bottom right rear corner of the main block of the motor. It will have an aluminum or copper sealing washer. Take off the bolt and let the oil drain out. When the oil is finished draining , put the bolt back in with a new sealing washer , if needed , and snug up the bolt just enough so that it does not leak or come out. Again do not over tighten the bolt. Now pour in the new oil through the dipstick hole. Be sure you use JASO MA certified motorcycle oil. You will need 4 quarts but you may have a partial quart left over. The quantity is something between 3.4 and 4 quarts. Run the bike and double check the oil level with your dipstick so you do not over fill.

How do I drain the oil on a ZZR1100 D3 - I beleive that there are two bolts need to locate them.


There are actually two drain plugs...look for the 17mm bolts with the washer under the head. The washers are "crush" washers that need to be inspected and replaced if necessary to prevent leaks.
The other bolt that needs to be removed is the oil filter drain plug. It is the large round cap. The bolt has an O ring for a seal. The new filter should come with an O ring for the drain bolt as well as a large O ring for the cover. (Be sure to ask or inspect the box when you buy a new one)
Check your manual for torque specs to be sure and not overtighten. On my '91ZX1100c the torque settings for the drain bolts = 18ft/lb and the oil filter bolt = 14.5 ft/lb. check your settings to be sure.

Installing new jacuzzi 1.6 gallon maxima toilet. despite following the instructions, the water is leaking from between where the tank connects to the bowl. Please help.


Yes, it seems the folks who wrote the instructions have never actually done any plumbing.

first place a rubber washer on the bolt, then put it through the hole in the tank. Then place another rubber washer on the bolt, followed by a metal washer and a nut. Tighten the nut, not the bolt.
Using a screwdriver hold the bolt in place, and tighten the nut until snug and the rubber washers are compressed slightly.

Follow this step with all the "tank to bowl" bolts.

Now the bolts are tight to the tank and will not leak water.

Then place the large rubber gasket over the flush valve hole on the bottom of the tank. and set the tank on the bowl with the bolts through the bowls holes.

Place a metal washer on the bolt, and then a nut.

Tighten each nut equally until the tank has no wobble.

Don't need those bolts except for shipping the washer. They were supposed to have been removed a long time ago.

Need bolts to stabilize washer for move


Dont know if you can purchase these. First people to try are the manufactures. Otherwise, unscrew the two screws at the rear top of machine and pull backwards to remove top.Then pack some towells or rugs around the drum then replace top. Don,t forget to remove rugs at new home.!! Good luck on your move.

Shipping bolt installation


A total of four shipping bolts need to be installed: two longer ones on the bottom and two shorter ones on the top. Each shipping bolt consists of a metal screw inside a plastic cylinder which fits between the washer suspension and the back of the washer cabinet. The metal screw pulls the washer suspension against the plastic cylinder which, in turn, is pulled against the rear cabinet, thereby securing the suspension against the back of the cabinet. The Whirlpool part number is 285955. These bolts can be ordered from various suppliers for $20 - $30. To install these bolts, you will need a 13 mm wrench and a flashlight so you can see where the bolts screw into on the washer suspension.

The procedure is as follows:
1. On the back of the washer, remove the 4 plastic covers over the oblong shipping bolt holes. Carefully pack these covers with the water and drain hoses as they will be needed when the washer is re-installed in its new location.
2. Using the flashlight as a visual aid, look inside the oblong holes and identify the area on the washer suspension into which the shipping bolts screw. It is a white plastic part that is not directly behind the the shipping bolt holes, but is slightly above that level.
3.Look at the shipping bolts. The bolts described above (Part number 285955) have a a plastic arm at one end . This arm must be sawed-off for installation on older machines. You will have to determine whether or not the arm needs to be removed.
4. Starting with the bottom two holes, carefully slide a shipping bolt through the hole toward the front of the machine. Angle the bolt upward toward the screw mating hole, and carefully guide the bolt into the hole. Use the 13 mm wrench to engage the bolt into the mating hole.
5. Make sure that the plastic end of the bolt is closely seated against the back of the washer cabinet. Using the 13 mm wrench, screw in the lower two bolts, but do not tighten at this time.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the upper two shipping bolts.
7. After the plastic part of all 4 bolts has been firmly seated against the back of the washer cabinet, carefully tighten all 4 bolts.
8. Go to the front of the washer and push on the drum. The drum will rotate but it should not rock. If that is the case, then you are done.
