PLEASE HELP!!!!!! I had a house built 6 years ago and had an over the range microwave installed. The first one that came with the house was a GE. after like 6 months it would run for a few seconds and...

It may be that the exhaust duct is blocked or the filter is dirty.

That can cause the oven to run chronically hot, which damages the microwave.

The whole duct needs to be checked for any blockage.

You will need to remove the oven from the wall.

To remove it from the wall, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

Whirlpool customer service is here and you can also enter your model number on that page to download your owner's manual, installation instructions, etc..

You can find links to helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts here.

Everything works except the microwave function

yes there are fuses inside it,,,but,,,there is also a lot of volts still in it too, "ie, 1000's" and they bite too,
bit like a police stun gun will,,but they may not just stun you,,they could very well kill you,, so be warned!
also the fuses are not the normal sizes you would have at home, and some of them are "slow blow" type and some are "fast blow" type,,, and one is at least 1 to 4 1000 volts type?
and my gess is a fuse has poped becouse the magnatron has given up the ghost and poped its clogs!!! like its dead! and a new magnatron would be dearer than a new microwave to have fitted,,
so,,,get a new unit,,dont tinker with it and stay alive!

Turn on oven 30 seconds latter turns off.

You have given very little information, I give simple instructions to reset the microwave and check the simple problems sometimes found with them.

If there has been a power surge, or electric fuses blowing, etc., sometimes you can clear a problem simply by unplugging the microwave, and then plugging it back in after a minute.

After that, make sure that your clock is set to the correct time. Then try your microwave again.

The other thing that can make the microwave go off is if the door is not tight and latched properly.

Look at where the latch of the door snaps into the body of the microwave. Usually, they look like hooks that fit into slots. Make sure that the area is clean and that they are not broken, chipped, blocked.

If they are, clean the holes. Replace the latches. I can't provide good instructions without knowing what kind of microwave you have.

Please leave comments on the kind of microwave you have, whether the clock works, and any other conditions that happened before the problem. If there are beeps that you hear and how many, lights that come on, all of this will help the techs isolate your problem.

The trouble can also be on the inside of the microwave and that will require step by step instructions to open the microwave and look inside. If the problem continues, a qualified person will respond with better instructions.

Thank your for allowing us to serve you better by leaving comments.

Burned out bulb on Kitchen Aid Microwave Model KBMC140

You will need to remove the oven from the wall and remove the outer cover.

If for some reason you don't have yours, you can download your owner's manual and installation instructions free from this page.

You can also find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

These models use halogen lamps. You must not touch halogen types with your bare skin, as the oils will shorten the bulb life.

You should be able to get one from a home center or local appliance parts store.

If you order it online (from the link above) it is part # 4375348.

GE EMO300SS microwave

Yes this can be done.  The unit will need to be taken down and the vent fan will need to be reversed.
