Oven door will not close properly

Generally speaking, if the oven door closes most of the way, but remains partially open, then it is necessary to replace the oven door hinges if it ios a drop down door.

My JenAir oven door doesn't close fully

most likely you have bad door hinges if the door doesn't close correctly,i don't know if you know this but alot of parts are no loner available for this model,it must be old,the only thing you can get for the door is the hinges and that's it,you'll need the rest of the model number to get the right hinges you're missing the last two letters, you can go here put your model number in to look up parts.

go to door and look at part 16 the hinge, hope this helps you out, when you open the door,if it sags down lower to the ground the hinges are bad, when open it should be at a 90 degree angle

We have a Jenn Air Wall over that the door will not close air tight. They have replaced the hinges but you can actually stick a thumb between the top part of the oven and the door. They say it's supposed...

there's a door gasket that seals it not the metal part of the door so you might be able to stick your thumb in there as long as the seal on the door is closing tightly to the frame, when you open the door it should be on a 90 degree angle, before you had new hinges put on the door, most likely the door sagged lower to the floor and didn't close properly,if you think alot of heat is escaping you could have a bad door gasket.so open the door, look at it from the side,it should look like an L or at a 90 degree angle or even up a little,if it is the hinges aren't the problem if you think to much heat is escaping, call whoever did the work for you and have them check the door seal or gasket same thing.you didn't send the model number so i don't know what seal you need,go here and watch video should be similar and you can put your model number in to find correct part

hope this helps you out,if heat is coming out with door closed and you have new hinges this is most likely what's wrong

Oven door not closing properly

If it is a drop down door with hinges on the bootom of the oven door, then it is likely to be weak door hinge springs, the usual solution is to replace both hinges.
If it is a swing open door, then the problem is related to a worn or broken door catch, or worn striker pin.

other than checking the door seal itself, make sure its intact and door closes properly. make sure door' doesnt spring back open after closing does the opening along sid look to be even all the way up the side. maybe the oven door opens more than 90 degrees?? if it does id look into replacing the door hinges

Replace door hinges

I had exactly the same problem until tonight!
I had nothing to lose so solved it by sheer brute force!
The problem is with the hinges that the door clips into they seem to get very loose. If you can manage to crimp them against metal they won't move and your door will shut properly. This is how I did it.

1. There are a couple of locks (levers) on each hinge open them up and then lift off the door
2. Ensure that there is nothing wrong with the door brackets, tighten the screws on them to ensure they don't move.
3. Fit the door back on to the hinges and with the levers still open(towards the door) push the door against the hinges which bends them tight in position (don't push too hard otherwise you will completely bend the bracket out of shape you just need to do it enough to crimp it in to place and prevent it from moving)
4. Now open the door, push the levers back closed against the hinges and then shut the door. Hopefully it will be a much tighter fit.

Good luck!
