Question about Panasonic Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a panasonic 21 system/triple stereo/text TX-51GF85H tv. The problem is i can't adjust the brightness, colour etc.... The picture is fine only its showing too much colour and when watching a movie its too dark. I just want to tone it down. It opens at the menu but will not stop on what i want to adjust. It continues over and over through the whole setting/ thing on auto without stopping. Ive tried it on the preset buttons on the tv but just does the same thing. The remote is missing and this makes it difficult. I purchased a universal remote, harmony 300 but it still wont do it. Can you please help me or can you please tell me where I can purchase another remote suited to this tv please. Thanks Ruth

Hello Ruth,

I don't think there is any problem with your TV or your remote control. I think you have the picture menu option set to P-AUTO. If you press the RECALL button on the Panasonic remote you will get a status display on the TV screen. In the bottom left corner, it will either show P-AUTO or P-STANDARD. Close the status display by pressing the recall button again.

(RECALL is below 7 next to 0 - it's a + sign in a rectangle / TV screen icon)

If it's set to P-AUTO, press the PICTURE MENU button (below RECALL) on the Panasonic remote control and change it to P-STANDARD. Then try changing the picture settings again manually. If it's set to P-AUTO, all picture adjustments are made automatically and you can't make manual adjustments.

If this doesn't solve the problem, it would appear there is a fault with the TV and I doubt that replacing the remote will solve the problem.

Please try the above then let me know if you need further assistance by clicking on "Add a Comment" below your question. If you don't have the original Panasonic remote, please let me know.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
BElectric

    Hello Ruth,

My apologies - I thought you still had the Panasonic remote and wanted to replace it because it didn't seem to be functioning correctly.

I can definitely find a new Panasonic remote for you but it would help to know your location. From the model number of the TV, I'm going to assume you are in Australia or New Zealand - If this is incorrect, please let me know.

If this is correct, you can obtain a replacement original Panasonic remote from here:

    http://spares.bigwarehouse.com.au/produc...

    Part Number: NPRPM637CBRS

    Price: AU$39.67 + shipping

    Enquiries: http://spares.bigwarehouse.com.au/contac...

(The official panasonic part number is: EUR511027)

This is the only (reputable) supplier I can find at the moment in Australia / NZ, but I may be able to find one of two more if they can't help you. In addition, Panasonic remotes can usually be ordered from Panasonic authorised service centres.

If you can let me know your location, I can locate your nearest Panasonic service centre and possibly find other suppliers if required.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    BElectric

Try some adjustments. Brite changes the level of bright and Picture changes contrast. Less contrast and less brightness to even things out may help, and you won't be driving the panel so hard, so It's life will be longer too.

Red colour appearing on screen

Your tv could have one of several faults. None of which are to be tackled by anyone except a qualified engineer due to the electric shock hazard.the first problem could be the crt (tube) the second could be the componets on crt base circuit board ie resistors or ic.
With a tv 9 years old it may not be economical to carry out a reair.

Panasonic TX-51GF85H power issue

it goes into that when something on the board is loose like a diode or transister unscrew the bottom behind the tv then check the solders if thats not the case there are fuses that blow and that can happen as well dont mess around near the power supply or picture tubes cause that is were the most dangerous spot to touch is use a non conductive object to see anything.

Find what the low and high numbers are and set them to the middle, e.g. 0-10 set on 5 This is the optimized condition from the engineers. Then you can increase or decrease each parameter to your likings.

Panasonic tx-51gf85h contrast

The tubes are aging and the grey scale has to be reset, enter service mode and readjust all guns until you get a black and white image. ones done memorize settings and that should fix the problem
also it has come to attention that the seals are failing that hold the coolant. please also check that no coolant has dropped onto the signal board. it is highly conductive and corrosive, it can eat a track on the board and create the same issue as you are having.

Samsung tv settings

it depends on what your using it for, adjust colour tones to what you think looks natural, contrast between 80-90, keep sharpness below 30. just have a play around till you find what best suits the source material.
