If your unit is frost free, then you have a defrost circuit failure, which is made up of the defrost heater, defrost thermostat and defrost timer. The defrost heater and defrost thermostat are located in the freezer compartment next to the evaporator coil and can be checked with an ohmmeter (anything except an open is good). The defrost timer is usually located in the free food side or in the compressor compartment.

Suggest you go to the www.searspartsdirect.com website and insert the model number off the equipment id tag on your unit and find the parts.

The Electrolux refrigerator is not working it's not cold but the freezer is working I was told it may be the thermostat. Food and milk in fridge is getting spoiled. It's been out for 3 days already. Thank...

First thing to check is if (a) the evaporator fan is running in the freezer and (b) if there is a build up of ice on the freezer wall. If the fan is not running in the freezer the ref. side won't cool. If there is a build up of ice on the freezer wall, then you a defrost system problem and there won't be any circulation to the ref. side. If you have a defrost problem, the defrost system consist of 3 parts: timer, bi-metal thermostat, and heaters. With fridgidaire more than likely the adaptive defrost board(timer) located in the fridge on the upper left side behide some white pastic is bad. If you change it go ahead and change the bi-metal thermostat, located behind the freezer wall, as well because its a very cheap part and will save you from having to do it later.

Freezer side of refridgerator doesn't freeze foods properly and also makes only about 10 cubes a day. food side works fine, it's a Hotpoint model #HSS251FMB WW

If freezer is icing up, you might have a defrost problem. Frost free models have a heating element that is controlled by a timer to automatically defrost ice, defrost timer turns on defrost heating element every 12 hours to melt ice in freezer and allow good air flow.
You can test defrost element with an ohm meter(located inside freezer coils-will have two wires going to a plug connection), if OK replace defrost timer (located in various places depending on make and model

Freezer is icing over and fridge is not keeping food cold

I really believe your adaptive defrost located inside the fresh food compartment and inside the control panel is defective. It puts your refrigerator on a timely defrost and if defective this problem you listed in your post happens. Yes we may need to also check the defrost heater and defrost thermostat but with my experience with that type of Adaptive Defrost Control is famous for its failure.
ADAPTIVE DEFROST CONTROL Part Number 61005988 You can find it located on two of my websites. Some models like yours came with a Defrost Timer. We will need just look inside the control panel and see for sure. Here is a photo of the Adaptive defrost. If you should need to contact me please send an email or try to answer here. Problem is I don't get notifications when someone comments. appliancepartsouteast@live.com

Please rate and ask me as much as you like. Thank You, Sea Breeze

Ice is melting

check firs to see if your coils need to be vacuumed. If this does not work you may have a bad defrost timer ( causes the freezer to stay in defrost longer than it needs to be and the food will not freeze) You can change this yourself if you are handy and can locate it on the fridge.

Icemaker is not freezing ice, freezer not freezing food,

The ice maker won't work if the freezer is warmer than 17 degrees so that's not an issue till you get the freezer cold again. I would guess that your unit is stuck in the defrost cycle. This could be the defrost timer failing. See if you can find the defrost timer in your unit and advance it by hand if possible. http://www.partselect.com/PartSearchResults.aspx?modelnum=jcd2295hes&mfgmodelnum=&fkmfgid=1&hint=defrost
