Hi, there is a small hole located on the front of all cd/dvd drives. With a paperclip you can open the disc tray by pressing the release mechanism through the hole (note press hard, it won't damage it).
Good luck!

My CD rom is not working

No matter what type of laptop you own or how you use it, the CD-ROM or DVD drive is an important part of the unit. With the CD or DVD drive in place, you can play your favorite music or watch your favorite movies, so when that CD or DVD player stops working it is important to get it back in service as soon as possible.

1.Locate the bypass hole on the CD-ROM drive. There is a very small hole, generally located underneath the eject button, on every CD-ROM drive. Unbend a paper clip and insert it into the hole until the CD tray pops out.
2.Remove any CD that is in the tray and replace it with a CD laser lens cleaner. These laser lens cleaners are available at computer shops and electronics retailers.
3.Run the laser lens cleaning program, then try to play a CD again. If that CD fails to play, replace it with another CD and try again.
4.Shut the computer down and remove the AC power cord if cleaning the laser lens does not resolve the issue. Turn the laptop upside down and slide the battery release lever to the unlocked position.
5.Remove the battery and set it aside. Then locate the screws that hold the CD-ROM drive in place and remove those screws. Slide the CD-ROM drive out of the bay, then slide it back into the bay until it snaps securely into place. Replace the screws that hold the drive in place, turn the laptop back on and try to read the CD again.
6.Log on to your computer and right click on the "My Computer" icon. Select "Properties" from the menu and click on the "Hardware" tab. Click the "Device Manager" button and expand the CD-ROM section. Right click on the CD-ROM and choose "Update Driver" from the menu to download and install the latest device driver from the CD-ROM manufacturer.

I hope you find it very helpful. Thank you for using fixya

Gateway 7510gx does not turn on. Replaced with new battery, no luck. PSU, I tested with a non contact voltage tester and tested ok.

My initial guess is that you have a problem similar to an issue I experienced a while back.
Does the light below touchpad come on indicating the laptop is plugged in when it is plugged in? If so the problem may well be simply the power button itself. This strip can be removed fairly easily and the button examined for issues.
To remove the strip (I am guessing warranty is up since its an old model, if not probably best to leave it to repair center):
remove two screws from the bottom of the laptop:
The two to remove are the ones one the edge with the hinges in the center. (There are a total of 4 screws along this edge, ignore the ones on either left or right edges).
Next with lid closed, press against the back of the hinge covers in their centers and lift. Pressing the center will release a catch on each and u need to then pull this up. I get a little seperation then gently wedge a screwdriver under them to help lift and pull out the catch.
With both catches released, open the lid fully (to 180 degrees). Be careful during this step as the covers like to snap back in place, it it helpful to keep them wedged out of place with a screwdriver or something.
With lid open, u can now pry under the hinges to begin to remove the strip above keyboard that has the media buttons and Power button. Once u work the hinges loose the strip should come off easily, but if not there are two catches along the top edge of the strip near the media buttons, if you use a screw driver to gently press down (towards keyboard) on these latches they will release without breaking.
Now the last thing to do is to note that there is a ribbon from the mb connecting to the media and power buttons. Note the orientation of the ribbon then, release the grip by pulling up on the plastic retainer (brown in my laptop). note this wont come off but will slide out a little. With the plastic retainer slid out, the ribbon will come free.
You can now take the strip and work on it. Flip it upside down and you will see screws for the circuit board for the media buttons and the power button.
You can then run some tests to see if the power button is closing the circuit as needed to actually trigger power up.
I hope that's all it is and that this helps.

I need a video tutorial on how to replace the CD-ROM drive in the Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro V2010.

All you need to do is leaver off the power button strip with a thin screwdriver. The power button strip has a slight gap at each side this is where you insert the thin screwdriver or thin leaver.
The power button strip has two plastic locking down lugs at each side they hold it in place.
Do it from the power on button side first with the screen flat backwards or you will pop off some keys.
Getting off the power button strip is the hardest part without poping off keys or scratching the case.
Unscrew the single silver screw to release the key board this screw is located slightly to the right of center although there are four locking down tabs on the keyboard it is only held down in the second one from the right. (It’s the longest screw in the laptop)
Push the keyboard slightly forward then tilt the keyboard towards you and lay flat (you should have enough strap to do that)
If you want to remove the keyboard completely you have to lift up the left and right lug each side of the strap)
Just at the right top edge of the strap connector you will see a silver headed screw, remove it.
The CD/DVD writer is now free however at the end nearest to you it is pushed into its electrical socket which is part of the motherboard.
If you press on the silver metal bit that you removed the screw from (looks a bit like a top chopped off triangle) the writer will slid out of its electrical socket, the device will come out from the right side of the laptop.
Remember if you are replacing the writer you will have to get one with the correct electrical socket.
Replacement is the reverse of removal. Slid in the DVD writer make sure it slots into the electrical socket. Put the locking screw back in. Locate the keyboard in its forward slots and slide in the strap, lock it into its connector, by pushing down the lugs either side. Lock down the keyboard with its screw and push back into place. Push the power button plastic strip into place.
Do the operation with the battery out and the power adaptor disconnected.
Hope this is clear enough and helps.
