Usually you have to FULLY CHARGE the device before you operate it. To do so you have to connect TomTom Via 1xx that you have to your PC/notebook using the USB cable.
When these operation is finished you may use your device.
First you have to let the TomTom device detect and communicate with the satellites; on a COLD START it might take up to 50 seconds to establish the protocol on the GPS part of your Via 180. Then you have to go to SETTING and to input you data like time zone, hour format, distance format, sort of roads to avoid and sort of roads to use and so on.
Once you were done - you will be ready to navigate.
