Whenyou connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED light up? Ifnot then - The battery adapter or the adapter's power lead or the laptop's powersocket could be faulty. Check power adapter's DCplug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltageshould be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottomof the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printedon the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the adapter is OK thenconnect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/batterycharging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's powersocket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position thisLED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a drysolder joint where it is connected to the motherboard. This can be repaired but itrequires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket andrepair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.

Wont' turn on. dv9000 - I haven't used in over a year. Is it the battery? Won't take a charge either.

If the laptop was in good condition and worked properly when you last powered it down, it should still be good. The battery by now is totally dead, and if it won't take a charge you need a new one. You can save money by using a reputable online dealer for a new battery.

I have an HP DV9000 and it wont power up.

Yes! HP are well known for motherboard issues, remove main battery and power up, if no change swap out the ram one at a time, sometimes this will do the trick, if not! you will need to get it assessed for repair.

Hp dv9000 on and off problem is there any

It sounds like your power supply is not charging the battery and the battery is dead (enough to try to turn on, but not more than that).
check the power adapter output with a volt meter.
Make sure the battery charge light is on when the power adapter is connected.
if all looks good there, try removing the battery and turning the unit on while plugged in.
if none of these work, post a reply here to this solution.

How long is the battery on a HP Pavilion dv9000 supposed to last?

Laptop batteries will usually last from 1.5 to 5 hours, depending upon the demand, the battery and the use. Sound burns up a lot of juice as does the DVD player so if you're watching movies or playing games an hour is about right. You can purchase a better HP PAVILION DV9000 Battery with 12 cell , it will work longger.

I too have a dv9000 and the same thing happened to me 1.5 years ago. I had lights but no screen or desktop. The laptop was still under warranty so I sent it back to HP and they replaced the processor at no charge. I believe that they are also replacing parts for out of warranty as well. Also the DV9000, DV6000, DV2000 and the Compaq V2000 have been recalled for problems with the motherboard. The link below is for the recall. Hope this helps. David.

Make sure the PS or adapter you are using is good. If it does the same with another known working adapter or battery then it appears that the cmos on the mo bo is corrupted. U might try disconnecting the hard drive and optical drive to see if unit stays on. But if it still goes out then it is definitely the board and a faulty peripheral is not to blame.

If board is bad, time to go shopping since the repair is not really cost effective given the cost of the board and the high labor expense involved.
