Replace three-speed box fan switch

How do I wire in a new three-speed switch to my box fan.

The original had two wires in (from the electrical source) and four wires out to the fan motor.

I can only find a replacement switch with four wires
On one side of the switch red and black
On the other side blue and yellow

Can you help?!

How do I pair a three wire source to a four wire outlet for my electric dryer?

The difference between the 4 wire plug and the power source wire is that the plug has and additional seperate ground wire. Basically ttwo legs, a neutral and a ground. Your power source wire only has the two legs and the neutral (the white) which used to act as a ground. Notice that the white (neutral) is hooked up to the ground bar along with the grounds in the panel box. The "correct" thing to do is replace the wire from the panel box with the correct size/amperage wire.

Just moved and outlet for dryer is different.

Connect the red, black, and white wires of the new cord to where the red, black, and white wires of the original dryer wires are connected to but disconnect the ground wire (green/yellow wire attached to the cabinet) from where the white wire is connected to and connect it instead to the fourth green/yellow wire of the new cord.

I'm trying to replace the power cord on the Maytag Atlantis MDE7400AY. originally it has a three prong cord but i need to put on a four prong. in the back of the dryer it seems to only have three...

These two pictures illustrate the power wiring on a the terminal of an electric dryer. The one on top is the old-style three-wire configuration. Most people have this type in their homes. New code changes, though, require that dryers now have a four-wire cord, shown on the bottom.
Besides the number of wires in each cord, there are two important things to notice. First, in the four-wire configuration, notice that the dryer's grounding strap is folded back on itself. The whole point of the four-wire cord is to separate the ground from the neutral. The green wire (the "new" extra wire in the four-wire cord) is attached to the dryer cabinet. In the three-wire configuration, the grounding strap is left intact and the neutral and ground are tied together.

Sure hope this helps you find a resolution to your delimma! Best wishes.

I need to switch my three prong power chord to a four prong

your terminal block on the dryer will have three screws in a row and there will be a green screw on the outer skin next to the terminal block cover - your four-wire cord will have a white wire, red, black and green wires - white wire goes on the center screw of the terminal block, red wire goes on one of the other screws of the terminal block, it doesn't matter which, black wire goes on remaining terminal block screw, green wire goes to the green screw

Elkectric dryer won't start

to put it kindly depending on way you connected wires unit could be damaged, replace pigtail with three wire and outlet to original.outlet wires should be black, red and white. turn breaker off attach white to middle and red, black to sides,"either side is fine".Attach dryer pigtail in same manner with white on white and if plug in and turn breaker on.If there is no operation at this point dryer possibly damaged from previous wiring.Just remember be safe when working with electrical and ask before trying to change things that aren't the same.

Dryer voltage problem

The dryer should work ok on 208 volts. The drying time may be a bit longer than usual since at 208 volts, you will only have 5408 watts of heat. Your bigger problem is your three phase panel. You can hook up one "hot wire" from the dryer to any of the three 3phase wires, and the other "hot wire" from the dryer to either of the two remaining 3phase connections and you will have a good connection to your dryer. However, the third wire from the dryer is a "ground wire" which has no connection in the three phase panel, or at least you didn't say it has one. If you can pull a ground wire from the grounding lug of the service panel feeding your 3phase box, and connect it to the third wire on the dryer, you would have a safe connection.

At 208v, the dryer will pull 26 amps. Be careful and make the right connections.

Maytag DE 412 Door switch

Attach the white to the common and the yellow to the NC, which means "normally closed". Normally, the circuit is closed which allows the dryer to run.

Hooking an electrical dryer to a breaker

You will typically need a 40 amp 220V circuit for this ( check with local building inspectors).  You will need to run some hefty wire probably #8 three wire  (again check) and install the type of plug receptacle that is on the  dryer cord.

Inside the breaker box you will need a dual breaker 220V breaker rated at 40 amps.  The wire coming into the breaker box will need to be clamped in place with appropriately sized wire cable clamp where the enter the box through a knockout- available at any hardware store.

Now the big question-  why are you switching to electrical?  Gas is pretty much half as expensive as electricy  and will dry the clothes faster (usually gas dryers generate more heat than electrical ones).   Just wondering..
