If the positive wire or negative was touch anthing, that means a short circuit
When a ve terminal get contact with -ve terminal it becomes short circuited.
When an electrical current travels along a different path than the one intended this is called a Short Circuit. An infinite circuit between two nodes is the complete opposite and this is called an Open Circuit.
