Hold the f2 key when you start your laptop.
it will bring you to the bios setup screen
from there you can go to advance tab i believe and look for the boot list or boot devices
there you can enable the boot for the hdd.

You have to make a bootable stick with the desired operating system, or must have an external dvd rom and the operating system boottable disk. Make sure BIOS is set to boot from removable devices (press F2 when booting, modify: boot -> boot device -> boot device priority so you boot removable devices first, save the new BIOS settings).

For bootable stick click here

Hello
The answer is YES. You can load Win-7 from an external DVD player, after making it as first boot device. You must have get DVD as first boot devce and the internal hard disc to second boot device. Click out all boot devices to none, by entering into the bios window. You can get the bios settings, by press and hold the "Delete" key of your computer, as it first try to load. OK.

MY netbook is not booting. it shows on screen check cable connection! PXE-M0F:exiting intel PXE ROM no bootable device. To what is this problem related to and how can I solve it. thanks

Check the cable to your hard drive..... no bootable device, is indicative of hdd failure or an error in your Boot ROM. Since the system also indicated to check the cable, more than likely your system is completely unable to see your drive. This could be from loss of power to the hdd, or loss of connection between the hdd and the motherboard. (a third option would be failure of other components on your motherboard, which are far more money and hassle to fix than replace.) So.....
  1. using an appropriate screwdriver remove the screw the the disc icon next to it and any others necessary to remove your hdd.
  2. Remove the hdd completely and inspect for irregularities
  3. replace the drive and connect it firmly
  4. check the system menu for a connected device to verify that its really not being recognized
If your problem continues you wore than likely need a new hdd.

How can i reboot my laptop? i turn it on and it says ''Reboot and select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in Selected Boot device and press a key_'' Any ideas??

It is either not seeing the HDD and/or the boot sector on the hdd has been damaged. Any repair you do will only be possible after you boot to an environment. If you can get a bootable CD made, that would be one option. Bootable USB is another. Once booted, you will then be able to examine the HDD to see what the problem is.
Does the bios show a HDD at all?

Trying to boot from windows CD and not working

If its the full windows xp cd by booting it from the cd drive it will erase everything and ask if you want to upgrade or advanced install I think. Your correct in choosing the atapi cd-rom as 1st boot device. The cd should be in the drive on startup. IDE is the type of hard disk drive. I'm guessing the FDD stands for floppy disk drive which you might not have that many but you have that many bay windows available.

Put disk in, shut down computer, Start computer and it should give you the xp disk contents. Be aware of data loss though.

BIOS and Sony CD-RW CRX300E

Your Sony CD-RW is an ATAPI CD-ROM for the purpose of your BIOS. Without you specifying the motherboard brand and model, it is hard to tell you what your issue could be.

Nearly all PC motherboards made after 1995 will allow you to boot from the CD. Enter the BIOS setup screen by pressing, during POST, <DEL> or <CTR>-S (Gateway), <F1> or <F2> and look for boot sequence. Some MB's have a boot sequence key you can press to select the boot device for that boot instance only.

If you are trying to say that you have an ATAPI CD-ROM and the Sony CD-RW, then check your master/slave/cable select jumper settings on the device. Each IDE channel can have at most one master and one slave.

Re: lg tower xp install

Hi,
the boot device setup in the bios, if you set atapi-cd rom as first boot device. then hdd second. and fdd last.
it appears that you have a faulty connection from the IDE ( 40-80 wire cable ) that runs from the motherboard Primary/secondary slot. check the cable goes from motherboard to hard-drive and is connected firmly, also check the jumper blocks ( small white plastic block ) is set to master or slave on both devices ( cd-hard-drive ) if both on same cable set hard-drive to slave and CD rom to master. if they are both set as master or slave, they will conflict with each other.
if you need further help, please mail back.
