Question about Whirlpool LER3624JQ Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Dryer Model LER3624JQ0 tumbles clothes, has heat, but clothes are hot and damp. Cleaned lint filter & took of vent in back (thought maybe clogged wall vent) but didn't help. Don't think much (if any) air was blowing out of back of dryer when vent was off.

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have nottaken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then youneed to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should takeplace. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causesfor your dryer to fail.

The tumble dryer bip and flash "empty water" even if no water. I have cleaned every filter (2 inside the big filter at the bottom of the tumble dryer) but still have the trouble

Hi,

I want to first make sure that your dryer is serviced up. so i want you to do these steps.
Most of the problems will be resolved doing these......

As clothes are tumble dried, they drop fibres. Most of this fluff is trapped by the lint filter and this needs to be checked and cleaned regularly. Lint also builds up in the vent pipe and around the electric motor in the rear of the dryer.

1.clean lint filter
989c696.jpg
Wait until the dryer cools, open the door and lift out the lint filter.
Gently brush off lint using your fingers.
On many models, the filter may also be washed. Check your manual for instructions.
If the filter is damaged in any way, you should replace it.

2.Vacuum area where lint filter sits:

The area where the lint filter sits should be vacuumed .
Remove the lint filter, and use a narrow vacuum nozzle to remove dust and lint from the fitting.

3.Clean inside the tumble dryer:
8dc9315.jpg

2210c2c.jpg
1. Make sure the dryer is cool, switch it off and unplug it.
2. Unscrew the retaining screws on the back panel, and lift it off. Vacuum the blower area.
3. Also vacuum around the vent pipe connection.
4. Replace the back panel and refit all the screws.

4.Check tumble dryer vent hose:
8d2299a.jpgWait for the dryer to cool. Unplug the vent hose and inspect its entire length for snags in the pipe.
Make sure the vent is not obstructed on the outside wall, and fit a flap or screen to keep out small animals.
If your vent pipe is punctured or damaged, you should replace it.

To avoid dryer problems,
Make sure the dryer is level and does not rock, and consult the manufacturer's instructions for the maximum weight of clothing to dry at one time. Also, make sure clothes have been spun-dry before putting them into the dryer.

This is just initial help,
Post your comments about how things turned up, Ill be giving suggestions based on your reply........

Thanx for using fixya,
Cheers.

Bosch condensation dryer when on heated dry clothes come out steaming hot not dry

Sounds like something's blocking the hot damp air being removed from the drier. If you are confident enough, go through the drier vent system looking for a blockage. If not get a good DIY neighbour or appliance engineer. Silly question, is the drum turning?

My Bosch dryer gets hot and tumbles but clothes come out hot yet very damp.

Hi eyecunow115

Check your vent, if your dryer vent hose/pipe is plugged up it will cause the problem you are have.
Also a plugged vent can cause a dryer fire so make sure that the vent is totally free of lint so the heat can get out of the dryer and to the outside Please take time to rate me

If your cloths are "hot and damp" you are not getting proper ventilation. Since you cleaned the vent trap let's try a few things to narrow down where this vent restriction is coming from.
  1. Let's pull that vent trap up and start the dryer. Place your hand a few inches in there. Can you feel a light suction of air? (flowing into the dryer)? We will get back to this shortly. Next -
  2. Take the vent hose off the back and turn the dryer on? At this time you should get lots of warm air blowing. If you do not have this and the vent trap did not have any noticeable air flow (into the dryer) then thus far you have a clog between the vent trap and the vent in the back of the dryer. Unplug the dryer and from the rear of the dryer remove the back panel. Should be just a few 5/16 nut with a possible flathead screwdriver indention on them. If you have to do this let's still check the pathway for ventilation to the outside and make sure one did not trigger the other. And if all ventilation to this point is good then -
  3. You have a clogged vent restriction between the duck and the path it takes to outside. For this a duct cleaning service will have to come out and take a high pressured air hose and blow that pathway clear. Now if you have a fairly high powered compressor and can locate the exit for the dryer vent then -
  4. Charge that compressor and put an air gun adapter on it and (wearing eye protection) blow the heck out of it. This will make a huge mess no matter who does it. Make sure it is a good size shop compressor and not one many people carry in their trunk for inflating flat tires (this one will not work) This is how the duct service will do it also.

When I turn on the dryer, the top gets VERY hot within about 2 minutes. When I look inside, you can see the heating element is red. I checked the vent and it is clear. I did notice that there was some...

if the lint is damp then the air isn't moving out the vent line, unplug the dryer, go outside and make sure the hood is clear, then go back inside and remove the vent line from the back of the dryer,if the vent line is long i use a leaf blower to blow out the line, just stick it into the vent line and blow it so all the lint will go outside,if you could have someone watch the outside and they can let you know when the line is clear, also the duct that the lint filter slides into should be cleaned out and you should vacuum out where the motor is,you have an open flame inside the dryer and the lint can and will catch fire if it's not cleaned out,i do this to my dryer once a year, the clothes dry on time,no fires and the parts in the dryer last longer from being cleaned and the dryer isn't overheating and damaging the motor and other parts from running to hot.let me know how you make out

My dryer gets hot but does not dry efficiently. Clothes are still very damp after more than 1.5 hours. I noticed that the lint trap is not really gathering any lint.

your problem might be in the actual vent to the outside. If the vent to the outside from the drier has a clog and will need to be cleaned. Without the proper ventallation the clothes will not dry. I suggest pulling the drier out and removeing the vent hose that connects to the outside and clean it. Once this is done you shouldn't have any problems

Hope this helped

Whirlpool electric dryer. Clothes stay soaking wet after an hour. Dryer heats ok, clothes tumble, vent is clean. filter light flashing.Fuse was replaced along with thermostat.

You were absolutely right about it being a venting issue. Although we thought we had it all cleaned out there was still a ball of lint blocking the air flow and causing the problem.
Thanks for your help.
