Question about Breville Coffee Makers & Espresso Machines

1 Answer

Hey I got given a Breville coffee machine a few weeks ago & I think its about 5 years old. It was all working fine but yesterday the froffer part stopped working properly. It takes a really long time for it to milk the heat & it doesnt get any froff, whereas before it stopped working properly it would froff it up to 3 times as much as the milk. Not sure what is wrong, my friend didnt give me the manual so I'm wondering if I need to clean it in a certain way, if that is possibly the problem? Thank you for your help. Rachel.

This is the only Breville Instruction Booklet I have been able to find:

http://www.keurig.com/customer-service/brewer-registration-and-support/~/media/Files/Keurig%20Brewer%20Manuals/Breville_BKC700XL.ashx

Sounds like a decscaling is in order.

General with machine that the hot water outlet onto the ground coffee is blocked with very fine grounds. You need to clean this hot water outlet. Often there is a philips head screw in the middle of the perforated outlet that has to be undone.

I have the same problem. Mine is 2 yrs old. Boiler is OK, just no steam. I opened it up and the controller board has a blown elecolytic cap. However, after replacing this still no steam. I would guess it needs a new controller board. I will try Breville...

X1, aluminium: no water filtering through

It is possible that the coffee screen area is blocked, since the steam and hot water work? Try removing the screen and cleaning.

Breville ESP8XL Espresso Machine Cafe Roma leaking.. help please..

We had that happen and it was a crack in the black ring that holds the filter. Breville could not supply us with one but we found an OEM part in aluminum from http://www.vancouverwireedm.com/caferomadiyt.htm. We received it 1 week after ordering. It was pretty easy to replace. Our machine works fine now.

After using coffee that was too small, I can't make coffee with one of the filters

I'm not sure you can. I did exactly the same thing, the very first time I used it -- I phoned Breville support and they told me to try soaking the filter in 2 tsp of baking soda dissolved in a cup of warm water. Which kinda seemed to work, although it was bit occasionally reluctant to give me my damned coffee.

I struggled on with it for maybe a year, but then the rubber seal around the bit the filter connects to blew out (with rather dramatic results). I think the extra pressure of the blocked filter did more damage that I suspected.

I got it serviced and they replaced both the seal and the filter. Worked great after that...

...until last week, when water started pouring out where no water should pour. Turns out that the black lock block that the filter holder goes into has developed a crack.

Looks like another trip to the service agent for me.

In short, you could try cleaning the 1-cup filter, but I would reccommend giving it up as a bad job and just buying another.

Before It Is Too Late.
