I have a St George Double Oven, and part of the enamel is "wearing away". At the moment there is a patch approximately 30mm in diameter where the enamel is missing. How do I fix?

As previously asked, how do I fix a patch of enamel that is about 30mm in diamter. I was given 3 sites to look at, one of which was obsolete (closed) and the other two not really relevant to my patch of missing enamel. The previous may have been okay for spot touching but not a 30mm patch.

Hi

You can use a touch up paint to repair the oven, clean the scratched enamel with a mild dishwater soap and warm water. After this scratch the area with sandpaper, then apply the enamel touch up paint. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Ok well there are quite a few efficient ways to fix the enamel. rather than go over old ground, please find below a few websites that show you exactly what to do... copy/paste these addresses to your browsers address bar...

Basically, one obtains a special enamel repair paint, and using the "Touch-up" brush, usually provided, one simply applies it to the area and wait for it to dry.

I have St. George Imperial Fan Forced Oven with Griller (Wall Oven) SGW FO need measurements and specs also model number ?? Can someone please help me have been looking on net for ages...Getting...

you should find the model number between the bottom of the griller door & the liner .. silly place really to get at... as you cannot remove the grill door as you can the oven door.
we have just rebuilt one from two we acquired ... best oven ever .... there will be a few different models as these were produced & cosmetically changed over a 20 yrs period. Ours now looks like a brand new oven as they are REAL baked enamel ... you can clean with caustic based product without any harm.
I am searching for a manual if anyone has one mine is 67/wdl.v.81.fo I presume the 81 in the number denotes 1981 manufacture.
Don't be fooled if you find the oven does not heat at some stage & everything else works ... this is usually after a cleaning & the auto on & off timer has been activated ...just a matter of setting back to manual mode.

Hope this helps although you have probably solved by now having posted in April 11.

Anyone have a manual for this model would be appreciated .

I have baked on aluminun foil on the bottom of my self clean oven did the cycle to self clean and the aluminum foil is still stuck on the bottom what can I do to remove it without ruining the surface

If the bottom of the oven is enamelled or has a pyrolytic self cleaning surface then you can use caustic soda to remove aluminium foil.

Many oven and hob cleaners contain caustic soda and those which do always advise that it's kept away from aluminium parts precisely because of it's effectiveness in turning aluminium into grey foamy goo!

If you're in doubt as to whether your oven floor is caustic soda resistant then try a small test patch first.

Please note that caustic soda is extremely corrosive so you'll need to keep your hands and arms covered and preferably use eye protection as well.

I have a wall oven, a St George single oven. The

Depending on model-
Put the door at an opening of about 100mm. You should feel an indent for thecorect position.
You will probably need 2 people, 1 each side,
Slide the door upward at an angle same as hinge, It will slide off the hinge.

If the hinge is broken, and they usually break inside the wall of the oven, it will be very difficult to slide it off the broken hinge.
Hinges are available from EDIS SPARES 1800 125 039

Easy off ate all enamel off interior of oven

First off i must say that in your owners manuel it clearly states to not use any cleaning products inside the oven..

Second if the cleaner is now completely cleaned off then when put into the bake cycle it could possibly turn the cleaner into a toxic gas. I would not use the oven i would replace it.

Third having the enamel chip off is not a safety concern. it is merely cosmetic. however refer back to number 2.
