  1. Unplug The Toshiba
  2. Remove Battery
  3. wait a minute
  4. re-install battery
  5. Turn it on
  6. Plug it in
I really wish they'd release a patch for that

HP G71-349WM Laptop Boot up Problems

there are many LEVELS of OS repair modes.
one is startup files bad, and fix that.
others are refresh.
and last full install.
the HP site covers how to do all that. hp.com
HDD not found is usual just that. bad HDD.
ever listen to one, if silent its DEAD, HDD, not SSDs.
One can remove the HDD, and put it in a eSATA enclosure
and plug it in to any PC modern has eSata, and see if data can be recovered. this is best way 1. or just plug it in to a good system.
Best is Desktop as those can have up to 8 drives installed ,
like my ASUS has. (actually more on mine)
That covers the topic DATA, recovery, 101.
now the cure.
buy a new SSD and then do a fresh install with HP media kit
then copy data from old drive, (if not dead) to new drive.
SOP, standard op. procedures. all.

Windows scans the HDD< for the DRIVER busy line to be not busy
if the drive is dead , it can set this line (all do dead) to true,.
busy forever, (aka READY) and is NOT ready.

when THE OS sees it in that logic state, it can not access it at all.
all it can do in that state is see name of HDD and model.
if super dead, it reads nothing... no Pnp DATA, zero.
and that is a totally dead drive.

one way to prove this is put the HDD in another system.
or run a live linux boot CD and see , yup its dead
or run linux partition tools, yup dead.
or windows 10 PE, boot CD
links to all that are here.

hi,

There's a possiblity that the problem is with the HDD due to bad sectors, you will need to reimage the HDD or better replaced it just to make sure. By the way, how did you run the recovery disc? You need to boot from the disc itself, try putting in the disc inside the drive then turn off the computer, the turn it back on then keep on tapping F12, some other laptop automatically boot from the disc but others need to choose first the boot sequence, you will see there boot from HDD, ODD, and LAN, you need to choose ODD then press enter, there will be a message saying that you need to press any key immediately, press any key immediately because one you miss that, you will need to start from the scratch again.

Hope this will help...

have you tried to set the BIOS boot sequence first priority(ODD) of your laptop?

try this
1. restart the system and while screen is turning on keep on pressing F2 then look on boot then the 1st should be ODD then once you did that press F10 to save and exit then try it again by rebooting system then press F12 while screen is turning on to install OS in you laptop

Starting window

Hi,

There's a possibility that the problem is with the HDD or just the Operating System. If its the HDD itself, you will have to replaced it or reimage it. But if its just the Operating system, what you can do is reinstall the Operating System using the One Key Recovery Sofware or the Recovery Disc that came with the computer. Follow these steps for you to be able to reinstall the Operating System using the One Key Recovery.

1. Turn off the computer.

2. Press the little button near the power button, it usually do have a drawing of an icon that looks like a horse shoe or a headset.

3. There will be a window that will appear which do have three option, One Key Antivirus, One Key Recovery and System Setup. Choose One key Recovery.

4. There will be another window that will appear which do have two option, Restore from initial backup and Restore from user backup,Choose Restore from initial back up

5. It will asked you if you want to continue, Just click on OK or YES.

6. Once done, Reboot the computer.

For Recovery Disc,

1. Insert the disc inside the drive.

2. Turn off the computer then turn it back on and keep on tapping F12

3. There will a window that will appear which do have three options, HDD,ODD/DVD/CD, and NAT, choose ODD/DVD/CD

4. It will asked you to press any key immediately, you will need to press any key immediately so that it will boot from ODD.

5. It will asked you to choose a partition, choose Disc 0 partition 1

6. Reboot computer once done.

I hope this information will be helpful. Thank you for using FixYa...

Seagate FreeAgent External 500GB HDD - Data Recovery

well firstly if u wana recover ur data u have to make the external hdd power up but thats the major area of issue that its not powering up. the difference in plug doesnt make a difference cuz u can use the same plug, the voltage is same thorugh out in ur place from the substation. so it might be a possibility that when u connected ur hdd,the power ON/OFF switch was awredy ON IF hdd has one. so wat i feel is dat u can try opening the hdd and then connect the hdd to ur desktop with help of the BUS CABLE used to connect the HDDs in desktops. so in dat case i would suggest that u go through the manual of ur external hdd to see how to access the the casing in which the hdd is there.then if u happen to get thorugh n it turns on then u dont have to recover ur data. it would still be there. HOWEVER,its recommended that u dont try these things personaaly if u are'nt too tech savy. u shud consult a tech or a freind who knows abt this.
