Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

HP mini 110 powers on and boots up but fan never spins. Power to fan initially shows voltage for a fraction of a second but then drops to zero. Eventually the mini overheats and shuts down. Fan can spin free to the touch so bearings should be ok. Is there a temp sensor controlling the fan or should the fan always be spinning? Why would the voltage drop after the first second? Any suggestions?

Fans not working in hp pavilion p7 1003w

Are you sure they are getting power? Check by using a plug off of an old fan. Power it up and read the voltage on the red and black wire. Should be 12 volts. Check by swapping SYS FAN With JP1. If there is no voltage then I would say your looking for a burnt or bad voltage regulator on the board. It could also be a bad power supply. Use a Q-tip to first spin the fans with the PC off. Do they spin freely?

If they dont, replace them. If they do spin free, turn on the PC.(Make sure to go into the bios setup so id doesnt continue to boot.) Try to spin the fans now. If the dont spin free, it means there is voltage there, but the fan is toast. Replace them.
FOR A QUICK FIX: If it is the power supply or MB . They sell an adapter that plugs into the HD power. get as many as you need and a power splitter or two depending in your power supply configuration. Plug the fans into the adapters then go into the bios setup and disable the fan warning. The fans will be on high at all times. The MB will have no control over the speed. Good luck. Hope this helps.

Standing fan

The start capacitor is defective. The capacitor makes the current lead the voltage by 90 degrees when the part is good. Thus at zero seconds maximum current exists with zero voltage. The current and voltage are out of phase with each other. This jump starts the motor to start it turning much faster. It now just has a magnetic field that holds it in one place so that it fights turning even if you try to spin the fan blade, due to the current and voltage now being in phase with each other. It no longer gets the jump start that it needs at start up.

While the Mini is on, try holding the power button down for 4 seconds, then power back up. hopefully this hard reset will work.

Possibilities are inmense, first make sure that your power supply is working, remember that its what charge the whole thing up. if power supply is not giving the right voltage the the lithium battery is not charging. You may have to take it to your local computer shop yo check it

HP Mini 110: When the power swich is pressed, The system doesn't turn on (no fan operation) and the power light blinks.

Looks like your power adaptor needs replacing if your getting no charge. Make sure the plugs are in tight and replace the fuse in the plug as well in case.

Try this: Remove Mini from A/C power; remove battery. Hold power button for 10 seconds; reinstall battery & A/C power. Try starting normally. Your netbook doesn't appear to have an external VGA port, or I would suggest trying to connect to an external monitor. Your monitor back-light may be burned out.
