My wii can't connect to the Internet. It says something about confirm ssid and try again

Hi. SSID is the name of the network you're trying to connect to. If it's asking you to key (type) it in manually, you'll have to key in the name correctly because it is case sensitive. It might ask you to confirm it afterwards then enter the network password. Once you've entered the correct password, you should be able to connect. :-)

My roommates laptop is connecting to the internet, mine won't

Sometimes the key length would change for security purposes. What you have to make sure is that you are entering the correct network key.
Use a connected computer like your roommates laptop or hardwired connect you laptop to the router using an ethernet cable to access the setup page of the router.

In your browser's address bar, type By default, leave the username blank, password is admin.
Go to Wireless -> Wireless security.
You will see the network key. Just copy that and enter it on your laptop.
I hope this helps!
