My mini is showing being conected to my wireless router but when i pull up the browser is wont go to the net. how can i fix it

  • Anonymous Mar 20, 2011

A Wireless connection CAN appear to be connected and it is, kind of: It can be connected to the router, but not to the Internet.

It's much different in XP and Vista or Win 7, without that I cannot offer exact steps, just common solutions

I'm Sorry, I would really like to help, but I need more information: your Operating System and Make/Model of your router.

    Thank You For Choosing FixYa~!

Sounds like your router isn't talking to your ppoe properly. Unplug power from modem and router. Then Plug the modem in.. wait for it to boot up and become stable. then plug in your router.. wait for it to boot and become stable.. then try it again. It should clear it up.

Have a sylvania net book says connected to wireless network but keep getting can not conect to server dns error on internet explorer reset router says it is conected but keep geting dns error i am using...

The router most likely set to only allow broadcast to G/N cards only. Although you have the proper key in the netbook if its a B card the router will not allow it to talk. Go in the routers back-web setting menu on the pc you can get online with. Most routers unless changed you will type 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1 in your internet browser. It will bring up a box that ask for user name and password. User name generally admin password generally password from factory sometimes linksys will use linksys as the user however look that up on there website. Once you are in there go to your wireless settings and set it to "neighbor friendly B/G/N" click save then get out and try your netbook again. If this does not work go back in there again and drop your wireless encryption to WEP128 you will need change the wireless key when you do this just your cell number as the key no spaces 5551234567 like that

I bought linksy wireless rounter off my sister i cant get conected the router is asking for a password she forgot it how can i reset it to use h my hughes net modem

Press and hold the reset button on the back of the router for 30 seconds. You'll now have reset the WRT54G to factory settings.
1. Now connect to your router. 2. Log in to your router by typing in 192.168.1.1 in your browser. 3. You'll be asked for a username and password. Leave the user blank and type in admin as password. 4. Now secure your router again.

My acer 5920 wont pick up any wireless networks . The wireless is turned on but wont recognise anything. Works fine using cable.

Have you Set up the Wireless ?
In Windows, Go Start - Control Panel - Net work Connections - Right click Wireless Conection - then to the top center tab Wireless Networks - near the bottom of this, Click ADD
- in the top slot (SSID) type in the SSID of your Wireless network e.g. BTHome then in..
Network Authentication - choose Open, Shared or WPA or WPA2-PSK (Whichever your Router supports - further right is BETTER)
then in the slot underneath, if Shared or Open chosen choose WEP
If you Originally chose WPA or WPA2-PSK now choose TKIP or AES again the rightmost one is better.
Now in the last two slots - Type in your Network Key.(same as the Routers) Hint, A Notepad document with the key in it, allows Copy and Paste into the authentication slots - (especially if it is 26 digits long...)
Click OK to go back to Wireless Networks Click on Advanced and make sure Access Point is selected - click Close and then OK to close the Properties window
Go back to Network Connections -
double click on your Wireless Icon and it should say Enabling... In the left most panel go to View available wireless networks and you should find e.g. BTHome is top of the pile.. and it shows it is Connecting or Aquiring...
once connected start your browser and confirm you are able to connect to the Internet...

My router wont configure

Plug in the laptop to the router and the router to the modem. Power cycle the modem. Turn on power to the router. Copen a command prompt on the laptop and type 'ipconfig /all' and press Enter. Look for your IP address (should have been assigned by the router and should look like 192.168.1.x). Also look for the default gateway. It will probably be 192.168.1.1. If that is the case, you should be able to use your web browser to connect to the router to check its configuration and the WAN status by typing in the address 'http://192.168.1.1' (or whatever was displayed for the default gateway previously.
