Question about Whirlpool Dryers

1 Answer

Dryer model LER 3624JQ0 has heat, tumbles clothes, no blocked vent problems (cleaned lint catcher & took off hose in back so could vent directly into the laundry room) but after 4 cycles clothes still came out hot and very damp.

You need to replace the heating coil that is usually the problem when you get air and and the tumbler is moving but no drying you can also check the lint catcher and clear out your dryer outgoing vent remove the hose check the dryer vent where the vent hose is connected and the vent going outside the house before changing the heating coil .

The tumble dryer bip and flash "empty water" even if no water. I have cleaned every filter (2 inside the big filter at the bottom of the tumble dryer) but still have the trouble

Hi,

I want to first make sure that your dryer is serviced up. so i want you to do these steps.
Most of the problems will be resolved doing these......

As clothes are tumble dried, they drop fibres. Most of this fluff is trapped by the lint filter and this needs to be checked and cleaned regularly. Lint also builds up in the vent pipe and around the electric motor in the rear of the dryer.

1.clean lint filter
989c696.jpg
Wait until the dryer cools, open the door and lift out the lint filter.
Gently brush off lint using your fingers.
On many models, the filter may also be washed. Check your manual for instructions.
If the filter is damaged in any way, you should replace it.

2.Vacuum area where lint filter sits:

The area where the lint filter sits should be vacuumed .
Remove the lint filter, and use a narrow vacuum nozzle to remove dust and lint from the fitting.

3.Clean inside the tumble dryer:

2210c2c.jpg
1. Make sure the dryer is cool, switch it off and unplug it.
2. Unscrew the retaining screws on the back panel, and lift it off. Vacuum the blower area.
3. Also vacuum around the vent pipe connection.
4. Replace the back panel and refit all the screws.

4.Check tumble dryer vent hose:
8d2299a.jpgWait for the dryer to cool. Unplug the vent hose and inspect its entire length for snags in the pipe.
Make sure the vent is not obstructed on the outside wall, and fit a flap or screen to keep out small animals.
If your vent pipe is punctured or damaged, you should replace it.

To avoid dryer problems,
Make sure the dryer is level and does not rock, and consult the manufacturer's instructions for the maximum weight of clothing to dry at one time. Also, make sure clothes have been spun-dry before putting them into the dryer.

This is just initial help,
Post your comments about how things turned up, Ill be giving suggestions based on your reply........

Thanx for using fixya,
Cheers.

Dryer Model LER3624JQ0 tumbles clothes, has heat, but clothes are hot and damp. Cleaned lint filter & took of vent in back (thought maybe clogged wall vent) but didn't help. Don't think much (if any)...

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have nottaken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then youneed to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should takeplace. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causesfor your dryer to fail.

Taking long time to dry the clothes

Due to a dryer either heats or no heat , I would suggest pulling the dryer out and removing the vent hose . Dry a load of clothes to see if they dry normally . If they do , this verifys that the vent hose is either kinked ( restricting air flow ) , or , if the vent runs UP inside the wall , there is a restriction between the inside vent hose to the outside vent . May have to go into the attic to clean .

Not drying clothes - have heat and tumble but probably not air Kenmore 80 series dryer.

Your vent is clogged. Remove hose from back of dryer and wall. vacuum out back of dryer, dryer hose an vent pipe in wall, if it goes out at roof you will need to clean out. Moisture from dryer is getting caught in excess lint trapped in vent causing dryer not to dry.

Dryer doesnt dry clothes

I suspect you have a blocked air vent. A blocked vent will definitely extend your drying time. You may even find yourself having to run a load twice to get it fully dried. One way to confirm this is to disconnect the vent hose from the back of your dryer and dry one load with the machine venting directly into your laundry room. If that load dries quickly then you know the problem is a blocked vent. Most vents get blocked by lint near their exit to the outside. There's usually a screen at this location to prevent small animals from crawling into your house. Often this screen gets clogged with lint. Most vents are designed to allow removal and cleaning of this screen from the outside.

Whirlpool electric dryer. Clothes stay soaking wet after an hour. Dryer heats ok, clothes tumble, vent is clean. filter light flashing.Fuse was replaced along with thermostat.

You were absolutely right about it being a venting issue. Although we thought we had it all cleaned out there was still a ball of lint blocking the air flow and causing the problem.
Thanks for your help.

Maytag dryer model # SDE3606AWY HEATS UP TUMBLE clothes but does

There is most likely a lint obstruction somewhere in the exhaust. Start by checking the outside vent as often there is an animal screen on it that over time gets caked with stray lint. If that's clear then work backward and check the hose, etc until you either find something or get to the dryer itself. It's possible that in the internal exhaust tubes there's an obstruction as well so if you don't find anything in the external tube you will need to disassemble and have a look inside those internal exuast tubes/ports. If it's inside then do it soon as there's clearly a risk of fire if there's a wad of lint somewhere inside where it shouldn't be.

The mother of a friend at work had this issue - her clothes took HOURS to dry. Her animal screen had several inches thick layer of lint. Once that was removed the dryer dried like new.

My kenmore electric dryer wont heat mondel 110.86880100

I know you cleaned the lint filter so I won't even mention it:)

Is it possible that your vent hose runs along the floor (perhaps behind the dryer, or maybe even under a raised floor beneath your dryer - as mine used to) before going up and out to the outside vent? If so it could be that water has seeped in through the vent opening from outside and become trapped in the hose and is acting like a drain trap and blocking moist air from escaping which is causing the clothes not to dry.

This is what happened to mine once anyway. A cracked vent flap was all it took for the water to build up over time. Unfortunately mine ran under the floor and I had to actually tear up my floor in order to remove the water without having it flow all over my house. Fixed the drying problem though (and a new vent flap insured that it didn't happen again).
