Question about Bissell 6591 Power Trak Revolution Bagless Upright Vacuum

1 Answer

I was given a model 6591, plugged it in and it worked but didnt "****" and didnt sound right. I turned it off and removed the hose from the back found a badly plugged hose. Removed the hair plug cleaned filters and when I tried to turn it on again. Now the motor will not turn on or even make a noise. I hear there is a fuse that can be blown? How can I find the fuse if there is one? Thank You Ron

The User Guide for the bissell Clearview Power Trak

http://canada.bissell.com/images/UserGuides/3590C.pdf

May not be your exact model but should be similar.

The Bissel vacuums include an internal thermal protector to protect it from overheating. When the thermal protector activates, the cleaner will stop running. Should this happen proceed as follows:

1. Turn the cleaner OFF and unplug from electrical outlet.

2. Check the Pre-Motor Filter and Post-Motor Filter for dirt accumulation.

3. Remove any clogs.

4. When the vacuum is unplugged and motor cools for approximately 30 minutes, the thermal protector should automatically resets and cleaning may continue.

5. If the thermal protector continues to activate after following the above steps, your cleaner may need servicing. Call Bissell Customer Service:

When you remove the hose to use the utensils, the dirt is flying out of the hose at the bottom where the utensil is removed from

Hi Karen. I understand how frustrating this can be. Dust blowing from the bottom hose is normal because the brush is still rotating. If there's excessive dirt flying out, then you may have a clog in the bottom hose.
Here's a quick link to check for clogs: http://www.bissell.com/FAQDetail.aspx?id=1419&cid=ccsocial

Bissell powertrak revolution dirt not going into cup

If the unit is not blocked between pickup and filter have a good look at the filter to see if air is passing through it---paper throwaway or foam filter the can be washed?

The ones that can be washed etc will have instructions right on them.

The pull out hose does not have succion

I assume the machine is operational, just does not have any suction. If this is the case, then it is probably plugged with something. Remove the hose, if you can and see if there is an obstruction. If nothing is found, then the impellar may be broken. Does the machine make the normal sound as it does when you get a large object stuck on the end of the hose? That is the sound that the impellar is working, the motor races up, and then the noise subsides back to normal when you remove the object. If that is what your machine is doing, you have a plug somewhere. If the sound is just the sound of a high pitched motor and does not make the sound it does when plugged, then the impellar shaft is probably broken. A vacuum is a pump and the impellar is the same thing that makes a boat motor move a boat. The impellar on the vacuum is enclosed and pulls air in (suction side of the pump) from the end of the hose and blows it out (discharge side of the pump) into the receiver where you collect dirt and debris. So those are your two possible solutions. If you are the repairman (or woman) then you can go on line and find repair manuals for your vacuum free. Just google: repair manual for your brand machine. If not and the machine didnt cost much and you dont have a plug, then you will probably be ahead to go get another one. Most repairmen want at least $100 just to get started plus parts. Hope this helps you.

The brush is clean and spinning but it isnt picking up anything and just pushing pet hair around.

You mentioned pet hair. Remove the brush cover and check for a plug (possibly pet hair). Sounds as though you have a plug somewhere and it's not allow the suction to pull it through. Also check your filter and clean or replace as necessary. Hint; Never let you container get over half full, it reduces the suction.

I have the electrolux vacuum epic series 6000 SR and bought it used therefore I dont have a manual. I have had it for about a yr and it worked great..it looked like it should have a filter but I didnt...

1. A manual can be downloaded from:
http://www.aerusvacuums.com/support/manuals/.
The Epic 60006500 is located under "Older Models". Download the Epic 6500 manual

2. Check for clogs in the hose and the power nozzle inlet.
3. Disconnect hose. Turn on vacuum. Does it run? If so, place hand over intake? Did it shut off? If it did, the problem is a worn out or broken component inside the vacuum. Generally a result of using generic "made to fit" Electrolux bags. This is a part that needs to be replaced in an authorized Aerus (Electrolux) shop.

Makes a extremely loud alarm sounding noise while vacuuming and the cord in the back doesn't have good suction at all.

When you hear the whistling noise, means there is a clog either in the hose itself, or in the elbow where it goes in or from where the bottom tube bends and goes up. To clean hose, remove it, stick on top of broom/mop handle and push all the way down to clear out any debris on it.

Yes it could. It sounds like your low voltage wires are not hooked up properly. You need to get your contractor back out there.
