simple when the pop up of the installation window comes up..
just say search for drivers manually..
then go ahead and choose the bottom options on windows..
and its gonna config the device to be a mass storage device..
then you just drag and drop or use WMP..
i know its not a complete explaination but just mess around with it works! :) cheers took me 2 hours and it was that easy haha!

I had a similar problem. My computer would pick up the fact that I had plugged a USB cable in, but it couldn't read the device. When I push on the back of the cable near the base of the of the player, it would connect as long as I held pressure on the cable. I read Sony's repair page and didn't like their procedures. I then took a small screwdriver and pried the terminals in the base of walkman towards the cables terminals. This is not for the faint of heart and you may damage the player, but I figured if it didn't work to begin with I wasn't out anything. Little by little, I pried the terminals gently across the entire length of the board. When I plugged it back it, the computer recognized the Walkman and charged it.

I had the same problem. One day my Mp3 started acting weird and said it was not recognizing the files and that i needed to re download them. Try plugging it up to your computer while its charging and hit the power off. Then reset your mp3 with the button at the bottom and it should recognize it.

I had the same problem. For at least a week. Try pressing the reset button. The reset button won't delete your music, videos, pictures, etc. Just resets your system. If that does not work then i don't know what else to tell you.
