Question about Philips 60PP9202 60" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Flyback transformer? the abl circuit coming off the flyback is reading 5.5 volts. the manual states it should be -2.2v. i am starting to believe this is the reason i have green bleeding through the highlights of images. is something downstream the cause of the high voltage or is it the flyback? can you possibly give me some ideas for troubleshooting further? Any help or input would be greatly appreciated. thanks

could you elaborate? Im not sure what over screen means & by oil do you mean the lens coolant? If I switch the crt video plugs the bleeding color changes to red or blue depending on plug, that is why I believe it to electronic and not coolant. I appreciate your time.

Flyback transformer is very likely bad. Also the most common in these sets as well. The transformer provides and regulates the power. There should be a label on your set that has the DC voltage output rating. You can use a voltmeter and measure the rating your flyback is putting out and see if they are the same.

AKAI PT5492S - Makes a ticking noise,black

This usually is indicative of the EXTREMELY HIGH VOLTAGE anode connection somewhere between the flyback transformer and one or more of the crt picture tubes or the splitter. Being that this circuit has a running voltage potential of over 30,000 volts if you are not familiar with these YOU CAN BE KILLED messing with it!!! What happens is that there is a breakdown of insulation over time usually from dirt or other environmental contamination. Usually a good cleaning and replacing the HV anode wire that has failed. (hint) it will be the one that the "ticking noise" is coming from. The ticking noise is actually the high voltage arcing to the chassis/ground.

Be careful!!!!

Cannot Find Flyback Transformer 60PP9202/17F

Contact Philips directly. They should be able to get you the part, even if they have to get it from another repair shops. Many repair shops purchase their parts from factory authorized distributors, not from the manufacturer. The flyback transformer powers the tube-it can be extremely dangerous to work on-EVEN with the tv off, they contain a lot of power somethjing like 50,000 to 150,00 volts. It is not fun getting shocked by one of these as many techs have been knocked unconcious by them. If you do not know the proper procedure to discharge a flyback then leave it alone!

I have hdtv rca d52w19 green power lights shows

Hello Chris this problem is coming from your high voltage circuit which consist of the flyback transformer and the horizontal output circuit, the most common problem when it is acting this way would be bad soldering on the flyback transformer or defective transformer but keep in mind it can also be caused by the horizontal circuit or a faulty lamp as well can cause this problem, what i would recommend is to have a tech come out to service your tv set this should not be an expensive repair since most of the time it is just bad soldering on the flyback thank you hope this helps.

Flyback

I read the other post you made and I don't belive that the flyback transformer has gone , and these models and makes from rca do have some common fixes that are found out by tech's . this problem that you are having can be in the power section , stanby circuit , protection circuit or even a horizontal output IC or some component that is causing the set not to come on . the flyback transformer would need to be tested to determine if it went bad but the power section would need to be tested first because there are different voltages that come out of the primary transformer and they go to different parts of the tv's functions and circuits , also info like what happen when it went out? and or was there a problem with it while watching it before it went out? , this can help to know what section was failing , thus start the testing in that section.
the best thing to do is to call an electronic repair shop to have a teck come out so they can determine the failure for you , as these are pretty complex sets and unsoldering and soldering , testing of and value idenentification of components is required , so if you cannot perform these then you could be putting alot of money into it and never finding the problem.
if you would like any more info , I'll bee glad to assist you

Flyback transformer?

Its either the flyback or a regulator. But i would need the model number of your set in order to know for sure. Please reply to this same post with your model number.

Could I possibly have a bad flyback transformer

I would try resoldering the flyback connections on the Circuit board. if the flyback was defective it would operate and you usually get 3 blinks on the LED indicator. Sounds more like a solder issue.

Loud static type snap from tv

TV's use high voltage to generate the stream of electrons traveling across the picture tube hitting the screen and lighting it up (thus the name Cathode Ray Tube). It takes about 25,000 volts to do this. In normal air, it takes about 1000 volts to jump an inch of air, so the high voltage transformer needs to have good insulation. It generates the voltage through a technique of charging the transformer's magnetic field with a low voltage of about 140 volts then letting it go where upon it flys back out the high voltage side at much high levels (Thus the common name flyback). A most common failure in a CRT type TV is for the insulation to crack in this transformer which is a unique component for each model of TV and leak out the current overstressing the circuit driving it. You can liken it to a little bolt of lightning getting loose in the circuit and has the same sound on a smaller scale.
It would be well to replace your flyback transformer before it gets worse and blows up something else as well. Best done by a professional used to handling high voltage. The picture tube can retain voltage even when the TV is unplugged for some time, and replacing the anode lead (the big red one) can be dangerous.
Hope Ya Fix It!

Tv will turn on

leadfoot,
i believe the problem is the flyback transformer. try cleaning by using a small aerosal can. this will either correct the problem or you might have to replace it.

flyback transformer stores energy so i would suggest hiring a professional technician.

56" RCA projection TV (FLYBACK related problem)

the base to emitter of the hot will read short on a diode checker/test on ohms it vairies but typically about 50 ohms.e to c, or b to c should have very high resistance. unsolder the collector of the hot. make sure all solder is gone. now test the ohm between your tuner ground & the pad of the hot collector it should read open.
