Question about HP OfficeJet 6210 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Hi, I have a 6210 all in one. When I try to scan it says install software. I do not have the cd. Is there another way?

I have the all-in-one Hp officejet 6210 and I was able to scan all of the sudden it says I have to install or run device software and I have done that already and it won't allow me to scan. What can I do...


Hmmm...it says to install or RUN device software...have you tried to run the software program? Try to open it up, and see if you can scan from the program. If that doesn't work, I would reload the CD and try again. Could be a problem with the CD, officejet, or computer driver, but it sounds like the computer driver is failing to work, which is why I recommend reloading it. Good luck...hope this helps.

Hi, I have had my hp 6210 for several years and just re-installed it. When I try to scan, I get the message: "No Scan Options. You need to run or install software for feature" Thanks, Johnny


Visit the below web link and select your operating sytem, download full feature drivers.

1. If the issue still persists, After installing the printer software
2. Open HP Solution Center
3. Go to Settings-> Scan Settings->Scan to setup
4. select all available scan shortcuts one by one and click on add
5.Click on update the device
6. Verify the results.

Updated computer to Vista now HP 6210 won't scan


I would check the HP website for ny additional updates for the VISTA os.

got to the HP website above. click on your operating system. and on the page after that click on
HP officejet and PSC Full feature software and drivers.

and then click install now.

Can't Scan with my HP 6210 All-in-One


Hi Kal,

I've included a procedure to get current drivers. But since your 6210 has been working, I thought we might try this first. The following link will bring you to a page describing an HP utility that specifically addresses your problem. Read through it and follow it's lead.

HP Scan Diagnostic Utility

For the correct 6210 drivers:

Click this link for for HP Software & Driver Downloads page.

Once there, select your Operating System (XP)

The next screen will offer several download options:

Under Drivers:
Select the appropriate driver for your application/situation.
Be mindful of the download sizes. One of them is pretty hefty and could take a while.

The first option should take care of your scan problem without all the reinstall turmoil. But, if it doesn't, option two will.
