NEED TO REMOVE AN AGITATOR FROM A WASHING MACHINE

  • 1 First you must determine the brand of washing machine you have.

  • 2 To remove agitator on a whirlpool washer, remove top cap from agitator, Next you will find a translucent cap, remove this with your pliers. Then you will see a 3/8 inch nut, Back this nut out and you can then remove the agitator. Be Careful though, inside the agitator where the bolt has been removed is a white piece of plastic that holds the "dog ears". These dog ears are what lets the agitator move in one direction and locks when the transmission moves back in the other direction.

Maytag and Admiral washers are very similar to remove. General Electric, (GE) is different, To remove a GE agitator simply pull upwards very hard, GE agitators snap on. Be careful not to pop it into your mouth, that really hurts.

  • 3 Remove agitator, repair or replace and reset, GE just push on, you will be able to see the groves to line up the agitator to the hub. For whirlpool place bolt into dog ear guide, and set down on top of transmission post and tighten, be careful that dog ears, do not get out of alignment. That's it.

    Buy F150 parts.

Does GE make the Frigidaire brand washing machine? and if so will the pump out of the Frigidaire work in the GE washing machine?

Hello, welcome to FixYa. The GE frontloads of several years ago where indeed made by Figidaire ( not the other way around) though GE now make their own as do Frigidaire/Electrolux and no longer have anything in common. The GE that had been built by Frigidaire used identical pumps, you'll just need to provide a model number of the unit in question and I can tell what pump it uses...and what washers it will work in. Thanks for choosing FixYa today. Regards, Macmarkus :)

The peice used to close the dryer has broken off is there maybe a peice that is usable to fix it or replace the item?

    Hello, truth1333.

With the model number of your machine, try looking here:

    http://www.repairclinic.com/

Enter your model number and hit 'Enter'.

I'm not sure which piece you need, but try looking at the parts listed in 'Latch Parts' in the drop-down menu ('Part Type').

    Washer drains but won't spin.

The next time this condition occuers, take the front panel off the machine and look under the top cover of the motor at the right front side. There is a LED light on the motor inverter board there. If it is flashing twice, then a pause, then repeating this again and again you most likely have a loose hub nut on your wash basket. (the motor reads this as belt slippage)
    1. Order and install a new hub washer (WH2X1199) and a new split ring (WH2X1195) along with a new hub nut (WH2X1193). If the hub part of the basket is worn, replace that as well (plastic tub models = WH45X10027, SS tub = hub / basket WH45X10060.
    2. Tighten hub nut, torque to 110 ft-lbs.
    3. Clear flash code error. (your method to clear code is a bit more extreme than required, but will work)
