I have a Lexmark x73 I can print stuff but it won't let me copy anything it comes up on the screen artcopy 55 MFC has incountered a problem what does that mean it won't work

I found this answer to your problem on www.fixyourownprinter.com and it should help you. Basically, it looks like you will have to reinstall the application, but read the text of this post that I am putting below, first.


"If you're getting this error when you try to scan, fax or copy when logged on to Windows with a Limited User account (as opposed to a Computer Administrator account), read on; otherwise I have no advice to offer.

Artcopy55.exe apparently needs to be able to write to the file C:\balance.txt every time it does a scan. The default NTFS security permissions will stop it from doing this if it's run from a limited account, and instead of coping in any reasonable way with this (like, for example, simply believing the settings that are already in there) it just dies.

You should run artcopy55.exe at least once from a Computer Administrator account to let it create all the files and registry keys it needs, then apply Modify permission for Users, and Deny Delete permission for Everyone, to C:\balance.txt.

Artcopy55.exe also wants to save the scanned image into a subfolder of C:\Program Files\LexmarkX73, as well as mess with the contents of some settings files inside that folder. So you need to apply Modify permissions for Users to this folder as well. If you don't do this, copy and fax operations simply stop after performing the scan.

Process Monitor reveals all kinds of other files and registry keys that artcopy55.exe gets ACCESS DENIED results on when run from a limited account; however, it works OK with just these two changes."

Lexmark X73 Printing Problem


When you say that your all-in-one system will copy, but will not print from the computer, this tells me that there could be a connection problem between the printer and the computer. This is more then likely a driver problem. you will need to go to lexmark and download the latest drivers for your operating system.
But this could also be a broken or loose cable.

my answer is no..unless if your Lexmark x73 has its via blue tooth, it is very possible that you can transmit data to your computer...

Just received a Lexmark X73 but it is missing stuff


the lexmark website. just email them and they will reply with link to the instal disc. cable you buy from any comp shop

I have installed a new black cartridge but print is not clear. i think i need to realign cartridges but dont know how. it is a lexmark x73. can you pls help


1 Select Print Control Program Cartridges Align Cartridges. For help, see page 8.
An alignment page prints and the Align Cartridges dialog box displays on the screen.
A number appears under each pattern. The test page that prints is similar to the one
shown.
2 For each alignment group on the test page, find the number that comes closest to
forming a straight line.
3 In the Align Cartridges dialog box, enter the numbers you selected on the test page.
4 After you have entered a number for all of the patterns, click OK.

Printer works, copier and scanner do not


you might try enabling bi-directional printer support in printer properties, if its paralell cable then it is in bios, epp or ecp.

Artcopy 55?


To resolve this error, complete steps A and B below. Step A:
  1. Open Windows Explorer.
  2. Go to C:\Program Files\LexmarkX73.
  3. Delete the Artcopy55.jac file.
  4. Open the Scan & Copy Control Program. (Go to Start, Programs, Lexmark X73, Scan & Copy Control Program.)
    The file will be rewritten with the latest settings.
Step B:
  1. Open Windows Explorer.
  2. Go to C:\Windows\Twain_32.
  3. Delete all folders except for the Lexmark folder.
  4. Reboot the computer.
Note: If completing the above procedure doesn't resolve the problem, JETSOFT recommend reinstalling Windows XP as a solution. (JETSOFT is the company that developed the Scan & Copy Control Program.)
