Question about Olympus Camedia C-5050 Zoom Digital Camera

1 Answer

My C-5050 zoom does not focus correctly. It acts like it is focusing but the picture gets blurry instead. It is probably too late to get the recall support for the CCD ? Also, I read that the motherboard battery/capacitor can go bad. Does this cause my problem? Can I replace this capacitor if I consider myself handy?

I had already reset the camera and updated the firmware.

I checked to see if the date/time would change by removing the batteries for about 5 minutes and then re-inserting them. The camera did retain the time and date. Not sure if this was long enough. Wondering if the motherboard battery slow charges when plugged into the USB on my computer.

I do get it to focus when the zoom is less than about 70%. Any comments on the focus when zoomed out?

First make sure it is not a strange setting the one that mess around with your needs....So..., get into menu ..and first put it in normal shooting mode.,.if it has a manual switch button for modes..,and after that ..from the menu ..look for reset all ...or for factory settings .....is different form one camera to another ..but usually makes the same thing ...gets all settings to the original ...
If after that the camera makes the same thing ...be sure it is not a lens problem ..caused by a physical shock ..or another thing like that ..and only as a last resort ..open it and change the battery ..cause that battery is the equivalent of cmos (bios ) battery on computer s...and holds all settings and stuff ..and indeed if it is gone ..can affect the functionality ..but ..if can be checked without opening ...For example ..set the date and time ..or another setting ...and if you remove your batteries..and put them back ..and the setting are getting from 0 again ...and are not held in memory ...it means that battery from the board is gone ..

if the settings were remembered after that time..it means the battery it is not to blame ..and if it is on focus until 70%..it may be just a fault from the lens ...A factory fault or an error from fabrication ...so ...it will not be necessary to change the battery ..and the error it is optical and not digital ...and you can not do much unless you are content with 70% max zoom ...or ..you should change the lens if you find similar ones on the manufacturer's site...for sale ..

Blurry picture if zoom is used ( no Sharp mage)

I'm out of practice because my camera suddenly stopped working 6 months ago, but I don't recall having a problem with blurry pictures when I used the zoom. Sometimes, it takes a few seconds for a pic to come into clear focus. I think the trick is to just keep working with it.

Blurry pictures

You did not say which lens or lenses you are using, but most auto-focus lenses have a switch for selecting manual or auto-focus. First, check your camera's menu settings to make sure auto-focus is enabled and then your lens to make sure you did not accidently leave it in the manual focus position? If it is in the auto-focus position and still not taking sharp pictures, switch it to manual and see if you can get it to focus correctly. It is also possible that your auto-focus alignment is out because your camera was bumped, jolted or dropped. If realignment is necessary, you can send the camera and lens to Nikon for repair or find a knowledgeable camera repairman.

Does the camera have auto zoom/focus? It could be all the way zoomed in, or have a focusing issue--look at your settings and make sure it's all set to normal or 0% zoom.

Camedia C-5050 zoom won't take pics

Is your memory full? Does the camera attampt to focus when you push the button down 1/2 way? If not the mode dial may be faulty (you are not in picture taking mode) or the shutter button may be faulty (no focus attempt) Try to use the timer button to get the shutter to trip.

All zoom pictures blurry

I am sure your lens is clean but from what you describing you have a definte problem with the lens assy which includes the autofocus sensors. Sometimes is can be a faulty focus motor , dirt between sensor and outer lens. Camera needs to be stripped and checked up.

Every few photos is blurry

Try to push the shutter button half way down first so the camera will auto focus first. You should hear the lens move to focus, then press it the rest of the way down to take the picture. Your pictures should be much better quality if you do it this way.

DSC-S75 focusing problems...

Without seeing a photo, here are a few possibilities. 1) Shutter speed too low (camera shake). 2) Camera is focusing on something in the foreground. 3) Focus not locked, low light, low contrast scene. Items 2 and 3 can be corrected by manual focus. Set the focus to 1 click below infinity, depth of field will insure everything is in focus. For item 1 remember that the shutter speed must be 1/125 sec or faster at full zoom to avoid camera shake.
