I'm sorry for your presentation embarrassment.
The most common cause of slide jams is the 140-Slide Tray. Because to compartment width was designed to get the maximum number of slides in the defined Carousel circumference, the compartment width that each individual slide fits into is unforgivingly narrow at the hub. If your slides are like mine (and most other peoples), they are probably older. The cardboard mounts begin to de-laminate with age, causing a "dog-ear" effect on the corners of the slide. Because there is no room for out-of-spec slides, they rub on the way down (or the way up). The mechanism keeps chugging along, thinking the slide is in the gate (or back in the tray). Because the slide has slowed it's travel, the jam occurs.
My recommendation is to do one of 2 things: 1. Have your slides re-mounted. or 2. Buy some 80 Slide Trays and transfer your slides into them. You can buy them used in great condition on the internet pretty cheap.
If you have more questions, feel free to ask!! If I have helped, some kind words back to FixYa would be appreciated!!
Good Luck !! Jim

How to remove a carousel stuck on a Kodak Carousel projector

No problem! FIRST, make sure the locking ring is in place and tight on the top of the tray. Next, locate the center hub (the hole in the center of the tray fits over it). In the center of the hub you will see either a "coin slot" or a small metal lever. Push the lever in the direction it will move and at the same time lift the tray off the projector. If you have a "coin slot), use a quarter to turn the coin slot until the tray is released. Turn the tray upside down, replace any slides that may have left the tray when it became stuck, and rotate the bottom metal plate until it locks in the locating slot. Turn on the projector and cycle it a few times IN REVERSE without a tray on it. this unlocks the jam in the projector. You should be good to go now!! Good Luck !! Jim

My Kodak 4600 carousel slide projector - will not send light out through the lens. There is some gate or baffle or something blocking the light. How can I fix this problem?

It is probably the Dark Shutter adjustment. The procedure is:

Adjusting the DARK SHUTTER

[1] Do the removal for the LOWER HOUSING.

[2] Insert a thin SLIDE into the GATE MECHANISM; the DARK SHUTTER should open.

[3] Check the the PRESSURE PAD is correctly aligned with the the DARK SHUTTER.
[4] Bend the PRESSURE PAD to adjust the alignment.

This is from page 34 of the SERVICE MANUAL, which you can view in its entirety here:

Problems with using a 140 carousel on a Kodak 4600

There is nothing wrong with your slide trays. Your projector needs an adjustment to the cycle contact assembly. The constant cycle mode is a dead-giveaway. You need to take the projector to an Authorized Repair Dealer for this adjustment. Should be relatively quick - - it takes longer to get the case apart than to make the repair!

Won't advance or reverse

the kodak projectors need occasional cleaning and lubrication of the mechanism. the grease gets gummy and sometimes siezes the moter as well. take it in to a shop for a good cleaning or, if you're mechanically inclined, you could do it yourself. just remember which screws go where.

Kodak Carousel 760H wont advance or reverse

You have jammed the slide change mechanism. Turn the projector off. Remove the tray using the emergency release slot in the center hub of the projector. Turn the projector on and cycle it a few times in reverse, then in forward. That usually clears a mechanism jam.
