Question about Miele Cooktops

My 3 burner Miehle stove top gas burners are extremely difficult to turn on in particular the large one. And getting harder and harder. Sometimes it takes me 9 - 10 tries before it catches and stays on. Carole Friedman Pacifica, CA

That's what I figured. It seems that it has been not the best ignitor(s) since the beginning - always tricky starting the burner. Are there 3 ignitors or one for all 3? If 3, could they all be bad? I tried cleaning the contacts first try out of the box. Not happy with the Miehle product.

Hi, this sounds like it is an igniter problem, the igniter module seems to be going faulty?

You could try cleaning up the contacts where the spark jumps across, this may assist.

Apart from doing this, you should get a tech to replace it.

This wouldn't be an expensive job. But it is best that this type of job be done by a professional. If worried about costings, simply ask for a "Quote" before allowing any repair work to be undertaken.

However if you are going to DIY, then first you MUST obtain a service manual, then from that get the parts numbers and obtain the spares, and using the manual perform the repair. BE CAREFUL, one can get a very nasty shock, if done incorrectly.

LP gas stove top . burners want turn down to low. Only medium and high flame work on burners.

Has this just recently happened? Check the knobs aren't cracked sometimes the brass spindle inside the knob is not gripping to turn it right down, also check your l p gas pressure it should be 2.75 kpa.
if the flames are big and yellow it's getting too much gas, not enough air.

The burner probably hes plugged holes for the gas to get through.
You can clean them out with a tooth pick or paper clip.

When I turn any burner on, the ignitors work fine but it takes a very long time for the burners to ignite. Problem is worse the longer the top has been turned off. Once gas gets to the ignitor, it lights...

It seems like one of your burners is clogged. You made need to use some oen cleaner and a small toothbrush to clean the burner. If the problem occurs with all the burners, then you have a blockage in the gas supply line. you willm have to take it apart at the stove and clear it out. Check the main gas connection and at the burner(s) to spot the debris clogging. Make sure to shut your gas valve off behind the stove. Good luck... hope this helps.

Miele KM 3474 stove top lights but turns off after 30 seconds

Does the burner attempt to re-ignite after it goes out? If so, it's probably the therocouple. If not, it could be the burner valve. Be sure the caps and rings are correctly seated on the burners and be sure to firmly press the burner knob down to start the flame.

Spark ignitors went on stove top

Electric gas igniters sometimes get stuck in one position causing a clicking sound. The clicking sound that you hear is the electric arc that is pulsing from the igniter conductor (wire) to ground (the gas burner). It receives power from the electrical outlet that the stove is plugged into.
Residue from food and sometimes cleaning products may be preventing the igniter from producing a spark (Arc) to the base of the burner. This is a common problem that occurs when the stove has been cleaned or food is allowed to build up. Make sure that the igniter and the burner base are clean and dry. This will help with proper operation. Oven cleaner and a small tooth brush may be used to accomplish this. Another problem with ignition may occur if you have too little (touching) or too much space between the igniter and the base of the burner; it will prevent the burner from igniting. You should only have a little more space than the thickness of a nickel between the burner base and the igniter. A good “blue” arc from the igniter to the burner base is optimal. If this doesn’t work, you may need to replace the electric igniter module. Good luck.

My electric stove top burner only works on high

This is for the glass top units. well i'm not sure if your problem is with your large or small single burner or the large expandable burner. If it's the large or small single burner replace the burner and if it the expandable also replace the burner. If you have a coil burner replace the infinite switch. Good luck hope this helps you.
