Question about Televison & Video

My problem is somewhat realted to these others. My dvd/Vcr player is a toshiba dvr650ku. Apperently this does not exist with the toshiba webstite. i tried contacting the tech support both by phone and internet, and my player is not recognized. My Sat connection simply points out there is a 3-diget numbered code, and this info should be located in the DVDs owner manual....I cant find. the Sat remote should be able to phase out the remotes for the Tv and player as well. im really happy with the remote so far, however...not entering the 3-diget code is hindering my ability to unlock its full potential. My dvd/vcr works as i am able to view disc, however recording is not possible. since i see the code not in writing,.....maybe a 3-diget code maybe displayed somehow by the remote for the player?...would appreciate any info on this. Iwas trying to be thrifty by not getting the DVR through the Sat provider and using this player since i had already purchased it a while back. Now they're trying to say its obsulete?

I probably wasnt clear enough on this. first of all; there is Not a DVR we are dealing with. It is a VCR/DVd recorder. Most SAT providers do offer the DVR, but i declined using one, and i simply just use a reciever box hooked up to the SAT dish. yes you were correct about doing the programing thru The SAT recieveing box/remote. It is thru using the SAT menu that prompmts me to enter a 3-diget code relating to my DVD/Vcr . There is even a message explaining that this code should be printed in the manual which i do have. Specifically on the menu screen a box to enter this code is displayed showing only the option of 3 spaces to enter this code. Ive already contacted tech support from the SAT provider. They referred me to the manufacturers website of my DVD/VCR player Toshiba. i talked on the phone as well as accessing the site on internet. i was told the same thing by the technitian that he has not heard of such a thing....and while searching for this player on the site; ....it does not exist

i apoligise for taking so long getting back. this Sat. info would be:
    Dish Network Model # VIP222K-HD
the menu that prompts this is a set-up menu directly from the dishnet unit. (1)..system setup-6....next screen: (2)installation-1 next screen (3) VCR setup-7........pressing no. 7 brings me to the next screen....exact description is: "enter the three-digit manufaturer code for the make of your VCR/DVD found in the users' manuel"......im am also given an options on the right side of the screen:
The following options are available on this page:
    (Done)
    (Cancel)
    (Test)
    (ERD setup)
    (Help)
if there was a different name or interpetation of this code?...as i had gone through the owners manuel and can not find any wordings relating to a manufaturers code. One would think the dishnetwork would have any idea to retrieve this,... as it is thier own unit this info needs to be inputted. Toshiba being a well known name in the business....i would wonder how they too would not have any answers or suggestions. Putting in consideration i had bought this DVD player a few years back...but its hardly a dinosoar edition.

  • franxbiz Mar 21, 2011

this is all fine YET;...once again the entry requires (3 Three) digets, Not 4. Also the question remains: How do i find any of the codes you mentioned above?...once again, this is related to install reciever in the satelite programing from "Dish network

Hi.

The code used by your VCR combo is the standard Toshiba combo code. If that does not work try standard VCR code and Hi-Fi, then finally use auto programming on the sat remote.

The code depend on the Satellite receiver and on its remote. As an example I publish the 4 digits remote codes for Toshiba combos:

1 Here VCR codes: 0043, 0045, 0066, 0210, 0212

Try also dropping an email to this website. They are an authority in terms of universal remotes. Give them info on The VCR model and on the Sat receiver model. Possibly give them also the code of the remote if you find it printed on the remote.

If remote came with sat-box, what is make and model of the satellite you are using?

With several 3 digits pe remotes codes were following.

This work on SAT like this:

    VCR: 034, 035, 067, 084, 090, 183, 204, 210
    TV:016, 017, 047, 090, 096, 117, 118, 131, 180, 201, 201, 216, 233

    GE, Jasco and more 3 digit remotes: TOSHIBA, 012, 013, 049, 089, 095, 105, 109, 117, 118, 120, 141, 159, 170,

    Older remotes: Toshiba. 049, 071, 072, 089, 105, 109, 117, 118, 160, 162

    Cableision remotes: 015 030 007 040 062 101 142 137 045

    Sony: Toshiba VCR 015,014,052

    Here Apex remote codes: RCU-200

The codes depend on the remote used. If it is the SAT remote, on the brand of the SAT.

    Regards.

I am not sure exactly which code you are looking for. Is it the code for a universal remote to allow you to control your DVR? Or is it some operational code that your satellite receiver needs? To be honest with you, I have been working with and repairing A/V equipment for a long time, and I have never seen a 3 digit code included in any equipments manual. If it is the code for a universal remote, and your manual does not list a specific code for the DVR, your manual should show you how to do a manual scan for the DVR code. This usually entails pressing the appropriate button that you want to program on the universal remote for a few seconds. The button should flash, and then you start pressing the remotes power button until your DVR turns off. You would then lock in the code. This is a rough example, but your manual should have the correct procedure.

Please let me know exactly what you are looking to do, and then I should be able to help you out. If not, I can turn your question over to another expert who will be able to help you resolve your issue.

Okay if I understand you correctly for you to be able to record on the Toshiba unit your satellite receiver wants some kind of a 3 digit code before it will allow you to record from the receiver to the Toshiba? Please let me know if this is correct. Also please let me know what the brand name on the satellite receiver is. Thanks again for the clarification.

  • bvanjoff Mar 20, 2011

What is the brand name of the satellite? Also, if you have the satellite manual handy, or even if you can read it off of the satellite screen, what exactly does either the screen or your manual tell you that the 3 digit code will do for you? I do recall something a bit similar to what you are looking for, but it's from some time ago, and I can't remember exactly what the code is for. Thanks.

  • bvanjoff Mar 20, 2011

Who is your sat provider? And what is the make and model of the sat tuner please?

  • bvanjoff Mar 20, 2011

Unfortunately your answer came while I was away and someone else now has your case. I wasn't able to find a code for your unit even after contacting my dish network contact. Dish Network only chose to setup certain units with certain manufacturers, and it doesn't look as if yours was one of them. If you have already tried all of the codes available for Toshiba units from any source you have then it looks like you may be out of luck. Hopefully whomever is helping you now might be able to come up with something.

How do I unlock region codes on a Toshiba SE-R0220 DVD/VCR player? I've tried many codes for other toshiba DVD players but none of them work :(

The Toshiba SE-R0220 is the REMOTE model number not the DVD/VCR model number!
You need to find hacked firmware for the DVD/VCR model number you have that releases the region settings.
Write it to a CD RW or DVD RW disc and follow the instructions for updating the firmware.
There is a chance that the firmware will not update correctly and you'll be left with a DVD part of the system that doesn't work.

Remote menu button not working

Sometimes you can enter a code that will work nearly all the buttons, but is not the correct code for your DVD player. You should try other codes. But sometimes a universal remote will NOT work every function.

We did use the Red & White RCA cable in addition to a coax cable. When the VCR tapes starts there is a burst of static coming from the speakers. The dvd sound is perfect but absolutely no sound from...

This is a combo unit (DVD/VCR), which should have RCA AV outputs on the rear - component video, DVD, and DVD/VCR. The latter output allows tapes to be heard and viewed, as well as DVD movies when the respective deck is selected via remote. There appear to be 2 S-video outputs on this model according to the user specs guide.

In other words, examine the rear of your combo unit - and connect the red-white RCA cable to the DVD/VCR 'OUT' sockets on the rear of the unit (L & R) and the S-video cable to the 5-pin socket in the same section if that is what you use instead of yellow RCA. This should fix the no-sound on VCR problem, and the bonus is it won't cost anything, and you don't need a workshop repair or setup quote.

You probably connected the cables to the main DVD output instead of DVD/VCR.

I hope this helps somewhat.
