Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Our cable company has upgraded to digital channels. This tv has the right equipment in it and should find the digital channels but doesn't. When I first did a digital channel search it grouped channels into DC channels- 1 through 9 and so on and so forth...you couldn't figure out which channel tho you were actually on. Then when I called the cable company I did a all channel search and it just came up with basic channels and now it says that the digital channel search isn't available. What can I do to get the line up of the channels correct and be able to do a digital search again? Do you have a manual that explains this? Sanyo Model DP19647

The cable company switched to digital just like everyone else, but that should not effect your viewing, they convert the channels back to basic cable so you can see the without having to do anything. If you want to watch "over the air" digital tv you need an outside antenna and television that can recieve digital signals, or put a digital convertor box on your set, but none of this makes any sense if you have cable because you are already getting the same channels over the cable.

No they do not convert the channels back to basic cable. in Murphy N.C. They say by years end all cable will only be digital.

In2015 all signals will be digital. I also got the "Not Available" message and we somehow after hours of playing with the set, found a channel that opened up a yes no download bar for digital. We received the digital stations happily but, sorry, we don't know how we did it.It was almost accidental.

The mitsubishi model vs-60805 tv will provide air channels off of cable hook-up, but does not provide cable channels. What needs to be done to recieve cable channels? The menu does not provide an apparent...

Hi,
Mitsubishi VS-60805 is 1999 model tv and unable to receive digital cable channels because it is equipped with analog tuner that can not receive cable channels because it is almost 11 years old.
You need to hook Cable Box in AV input of tv, plug digital cable in cable box and get digital cable channels in tv. Cable box has its own remote control and inbuilt digital tuner to receive all digital cable channels and widely available in Store, Radio Shake, amazon.com etc.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

Limited cable channels

There isn't a software upgrade available for your TV yet. So, the TV has the latest software right now.

I would try making the TV search for more channels.
Press Menu on the remote,
go to SETUP,
then go to CH SETUP,
then make sure the AIR/CABLE option is on CABLE,
then go to CH SEARCH and select " Analog & Digital Search Start ".
The new channels should show up after the scan is done.
If this doesn't work, the TV may need some type of new converter/cable box from the cable company.

If you need a copy of your manual, you can go here:

Channel setup

You will have to run the Autoprogram menu function from the menu. Here are the steps

Press the MENU button on the remote control.
Use the cursor down to select Installation in the Settings menu.
Use the cursor right to enter the Installation menu.
Select Autoprogram in the Installation menu.
Use the cursor right to enter the Autoprogram menu.
Press the OK button.
Select Cable or Antenna in the Installation mode.
When Antenna is selected, the TV will detect antenna signals and will search for antenna TV (NTSC and ATSC) channels available in your local area.
When Cable is selected, the TV will detect cable company supplied signals and will search for cable TV (NTSC,ATSC, QAM modulated) channels available in your area.
Make sure that registration with your cable TV provider and connection of equipment are completed.
Press the green button “Next” on the remote control.
Press the green button “Start” to start autoprogramming.
The menu screen disappears and the progress of autoprogramming is displayed. The progress bar indicates the number of analog and digital TV channels found. (Also digital channels via CableCARD are being programmed.
When Autoprogramming is complete, a message appears confirming the completion and the TV switches to the first installed TV channel.

DMR E55 timer recording won't work

Your recorder doesn´t have a digital tuner, let alone an HD one. You can record digital programs via your TV tuner if it gives a signal out. Connect your TV to AV1 or AV2 on your recorder and program the recorder to record from the one you chose. You must program the TV separately (I don´t know if this is possible on your TV) or leave it on and on the channel you want to record.

Sony Bravia does not see my digital channels

Hi buck lite,
Your cable company is telling the truth, you have digital cable. When auto scanned for digital channels the tv is lookig for OTR(over the air) signals. These are broadcast signals you will need an antenna to receive. Depending where you are and the type of antenna you use you probably could pick up some digital channels. Let me know if this helps and please rate this solution. Lone99star

Channel selection

What you need to do is take the remote, go into the menu, find channel scan and do a channel scan to find all the available stations available on this system. Make sure the TV set is in the cable mode and not antenna mode or you wont get any stations above channel 13.
