Question about Nikon D40 Digital Camera

When i connect my nikon d40 to my computer all it says is connecting to pc... it never connects... so i cant get my pics off my camera.. helpp!

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Nikon Transfer or any other photo cataloging program.

The camera indicator as removable hard disc is not appearing in MYCOMPUTERS please. i feel some adjustment is gone in camera setting please.

I can't upload the pictures from my Nikon D40 to my computer. It downloads then I can't see them, It says they're not there, so it's just an empty folder. I think I need to download the new version or to...

Connecting to pc message


connect the mini usb calbe to Camera only. Camera will working like without cable. Go to setup menu and Change USB setting to P, PTP. the unplug the miniusb and hopefully camera will work as it one.

It worked for me :)

Nikon d40 will not transfer photos.


I have a card reader on standby for when the cord stops working. So far, I haven't needed it.

try using a different usb port. might be the pc just can't detect your cam.

Forgot to format SD card...and now...


you don't need to format, just look for an option in your camera to switch between PTP mode and mass storage mode. Try either mode to see which one let you download the pics
