What do i need to do if my blackberry curve displays a message saying reload software:552?

Hi,

I have had the "Reload Software: 552" error on 2 BlackBerry Curve 8900s. When it occurred again (last night) this is what I did:

[ WARNING! THIS WORKED FOR ME, BUT I WAS LUCKY & IT MIGHT NOT WORK FOR YOU! ]

1. Reboot your BB: alt-rightShift-del

2. Start a software reload from the Windows desktop, via the BB Desktop Manager.

When the reload started, I would get a screen on my BB showing 2 computers talking to each other. After a few seconds, this would crash into the 552 error.

3. 3-5 seconds into the software reload, CANCEL the desktop.

4. This should freeze the apps on both the desktop and the BB. The BB should still be showing the 2-computers.

If you do anything on the desktop at this point, the BB will crash into the 552 error again.

5. Terminate the desktop app processes via the Windows task manager. There are 4 RIM/BB processes to shut down.

6. At this point, the BB Desktop Manager app should be gone, and the BB should still show the 2-computers.

7. Now, start the BB desktop manager back up again, and intitiate the software reload again ...

A 4thumbs up will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for choosing FixYa!

552 error

Reload software: 552 or App Error 552, known issue in Blackberry. To resolve, upgrade to the latest available BlackBerry Device Software version provided by your wireless service provider to resolve this issue.

Complete the following steps:

  1. Verify that the BlackBerry® Desktop Manager and the current BlackBerry Device Software (for your BlackBerry smartphone) is installed on the computer.
  2. Remove the battery from the BlackBerry smartphone. Do not re-insert the battery.
  3. Open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager on the computer.
  4. Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer using a USB cable.
  5. On the BlackBerry Desktop Manager main screen, click Application Loader.
  6. In the Update Software area of the Application Loader, click Start.
  7. Click Options. This allows you to add or remove applications from the BlackBerry smartphone.
  8. Select the applications that you want to install.
  9. Click Next.
  10. Click Next.
  11. Click Finish.
  12. When the application load process starts, insert the battery into the BlackBerry smartphone.
    Hope this helps!

Reload sotfware 552

I unfortunately have a lot of experience with the reload software 552 error. I have been on the phone with RIM quite some time. First, I do not think it is one particular bad APP. I think it occurs when the phone is stressed on a reboot or several apps not closing down fully. If you follow the directions on the blackberry website to reload the operating system with the APP Loader - WITH THE BATTERY OUT AT THE BEGINNING - you can always put the operating system back in. I went through many new phones too. What a waste of time. Also, if you use Verizon, after the operating system is back in, and you have done a restore of your data, and yes.... sorry to say, put back in your APPs, Verizon needs to send a service book to get the email messages going to you. For the last few weeks I have not installed Apps that don't close down fully when I close them, such as TIME, AP News. This has helped an I have not received the error again. I also did not install APPs that I could live without. I have had this so many times, that RIM is sure it is not one bad APP. I too hope that they solve this quickly. This is the most pathetic error and ruins an otherwise fabulous machine. At the beginning, I had post-traumtic stress disorder from seeing the phone do a reboot. They need to give this their top priority! Need I say, I back up every day and sync every day

Well my phone will not turn on and it says reload software:552

You can try updating your phone's operating system.Download the latest Desktop Manager here http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/. Plug your phone into your computer by USB and the Desktop Manager should automatically start the update process. I believe Blackberry OS is up to version 6 now.
