  1. Power off the PS3
  2. Connect Ethernet cable to the back of your modem. The port should be labeled Ethernet
  3. Plug the Ethernet cable into the back of the PS3 in the port marked LAN
  4. Turn the modem back on and then then turn the PS3 on.
  5. Got to the PS3 main menu and go to "settings" and the "network settings" and then "internet connection" and select "enabled"
  6. Got to "network settings" again then "internet connection settings" and you will see a pop up that says "If you perform Internet connection settings, the system will be disconnected. Do you want to continue?" Agree to disconnect by highlighting "yes" at the bottom of the screen and then pressing "x' on the controller.
  7. Pick "easy" and the press "x" to continue. When you do this it will automatically choose a basic internet setting for your PS3. Click "x" again to save the settings, and then you click "x" to test you internet connection and make sure it works. Your PS3 automatically attempts to obtain an IP address and connect to the Internet. Once this is confirmed press "O" on the controller to exit and your PS3 will be connected to the Internet.

HOW DO YOU HOOK UP A PLAYSTATION 3 TO THE INTERNET

It can be done via a wired and a wireless connection. For the wired connection, you just need to hook the ethernet cable at the ethernet port on your PS3. For the wireless connection, you just need to set it up under the Network Connections on your System Settings for the PS3.

I have a usb card for internet what do i need to but or do to be able for online

All PS3s have built in wireless, so you don't need an extra card. just connect to a wireless access point or hook it up with a ethernet cord. now if you are talking about hooking the PS3 up to the internet using the USB cord, than that is not supported.

I have a wireless router in my bedroom where the internet comes into my house. My sons got a PS3 and have hooked it up, it is now saying the ethernet cord in not connected. What is this and how do I fix...

Check that ethernet cord is plugged in correctly to router.Ethernet cord looks like a telephone cord.
must be in the lan port of router.

You need to have a ethernet cable going from the back of the ps3 to your router in 1 of the ports.

or ps3 needs a wireless adaptor to pick up the wirless signal from the router.

I have no computer or cable and need to set up internet on my PS3

??? A router will NOT replace your modem; the router won't work without the modem. If you're going to give advice, please make sure it is somewhat correct.

Okay. So first you need the telephone cord to go from the phone jack into the DSL port on your modem. Then you need the Ethernet cable that came with your modem (looks like a phone cord but much bigger) to go from the ethernet port in the back of the modem into the wan or internet port on the router. Verify that the DSL and internet lights are on on the modem.

For the rest of the setup, watch this . It will walk you step by step in connecting your PS3 to the wireless internet. Thanks and please take a moment to rate as fixya.

DNS error when connecting PS3 to internet

you could try getting a wifi adapter and creating an access point, you can connect that way if your ps3 has wifi I have a laptop with windows XP Pro and have been trying that my desktop PC with Vista Home can see it.
MY Components:
-Desktop PC with Vista Home (Main PC, connected to Internet with Ethernet to a Linksys Wireless Router B and G).
-Get internet thru cable TV (broadband),from this cable modem plugs to router and from router to PC Vista(desktop)
-Linksys Wireless G/B Router
-G-Card for my Laptop Windows XP Pro and
-Playstation 3 capable of sharing info and use printer

At the moment all of them have internet w different IP's (000.000.0.001, 000.000.0.002,etc.). What I want to achieve is that I can use the Printer that is connected via USB to my PC Vista (desktop) and share files. Right now the only thing been able to do is that my PC Vista see my Laptop but Can't find my PC on my laptop. Anybody, Help?
-When I turn On my media sharing in my PS3, my internet on Laptop loses it while PS3 search and find, then, because laptop lost wireless, the PS3 looses the laptop and I get wireless back. I knowis a stupid setting but tired of workin back n forth. Thanks

Networking

Well, I would guess that if you are hooked up now, then you have a wireless router. If this is the case then you should have rj-45 (ethernet) ports on the back of it also for lan hook-up also. Must come with atleast 4 LAN ports, 1 WLAN port (for the incoming internet signal from your cable/dsl modem), so if you use a reg. ethernnet cord, then yes you should be fine hooking your ps3 to your network(via ethernet cable to your wireless router from the ps3).
Hope this helps...
