I also have the same problem. CEC_Main.exe is a camera assistant software for Toshiba, it is not be a virus.
If you have a Toshiba laptop, it should be at this location: C:Program FilesCamera Assistant Software for ToshibaCEC_MAIN.exe

    I checked my C:drive ... CEC_Main and CEC_Main.ENU are there, but CEC_Main.exe is missing.

However, I also recently uploaded a trial version of Kaspersky Internet Security 2009. The Kaspersky program seems to think it is some type of virus or malware. Kaspersky has it categorized as an untrusted application. When I tried to re-install the camera assistant software from Toshiba's support site, Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 ("K") appeared to be blocking the download. Toshiba's Tech Support referred me to K's Tech Support. I just contacted K's technical support to request assistance in resolving it since I can't figure a way to override it's program blocking for this one item. Per K's auto-reply, a reply is to be expected in 1-2 days. I'll update once I hear from Kaspersky.

I have just bought a Tpshiba laptop and CEC.NAIN.exe re-install comes up with an OK button. It does this on a regular basis and I think it is something to do with the integral webcam.

Kaspersky tech support provided me with instructions for adding the CEC_Main.exe to the trusted applications list. However, when re-booting, the pc still produced adverse feedback pop-ups, i.e., "The application failed to initialize properly(Oxc0000142). Click OK to terminate the application." and "CEC_Main has stopped working..."

So, I went back to Toshiba's website and temporarily saved to My Desktop a copy of their camera assistant application, util_camera_26033.exe. I also re-opened Kaspersky > Settings > Threats & Exclusions > Trusted Zones > Objects > Add+ > and then I manually typed in
"C:\Program Files\Camera Assistant Software for Toshiba\CEC_MAIN.exe" (without the quotation marks) to the exclusion rules, to allow CEC_Main.exe to be a trusted application. Then I reinstalled the camera assistance application software using the repair option on the installation walk-through, then re-booted the pc.
Voila! No more errors :)
Still, if you are not currently using your laptop's webcam and you are concerned about tweaking your anti-virus program, you could probably just uninstall the (Chicony) Camera Assistant Software to avoid seeing the error pop-up.

SOURCE: it says can't execute CEC Main, reinstall program

This is what I know about this issue. I'm guessing you have a built in camera and anti virus program installed on your laptop. What you will have to do is to uninstall the driver for the camera, and disable your anti virus for a while. then you can reinstall your camera and it should work.
If you need further assistance with the procedure, let me know and I will help you with detailed instrucations. I will need to know what anti virus you have and which windows you have installed

I have Toshiba laptop with built in camera, but whenever i try to open the camera i recieve an error message 'CEC_Main.exe' reinstall. Kindly help how do i go about.

You also have Kasperkey ?
The error message 'CEC-MAIN.exe' is connected with the Camera Assistant Software,
You are unable to run the camera software because your KIS (Kasperkey Internet Security is blocking it by keeping "CEC-MAIN.exe" in the 'Untrusted File'.

Resolution:-

1) Launch your web browser

2) In the Notification Area (Down by your clock - Right click on the KIS icon and select "Pause Protection" > select "Resume manually"

3) In Notification Area: click on KIS icon elect "Applications under Control"

4) In the "Applications under Control" menu relocate "CEC-MAIN.exe" from the "Untrusted File" to the "Trusted File" - click "OK"

5) > Start > All Programs > CEC-MAIN icon to run your web camera program
Or My computer >> Local Disk (C) >> Program Files >> Camera Assistant Software Folder >> CEC-MAIN icon
Your webcam should now be running
Worth putting a shortcut on your Desktop at this stage .

6) With the webcam still running, then In notification Area - Right click on the KIS icon and select "Resume Protection"

7) Check the "CEC-MAIN.exe" in "Applications under Control" and confirm it is still in the "Trusted File"

8) Restart your computer

Lost "camera assistant software for toshiba\cec main.exe.can you help?.

Hello ,

You may need to go to the manufacturer to download the software & drivers ,

You may also may need to scan your system for infections to see if that software is infected and unable to load & work , their is several place to have your system scaned for free or scanned and repaired for a small fee / just make sure that the company is reputable as in

Symantic , Mcaffe , Panda Security

also try rolling back the driver for you may have gotten a bad update for the software or driver / this is done thru the device manager

Ceccmdll.dll cec-MAIN.EXE HAS STOPPED WORKING

Have you just installed a new security app such as Kaspersky?

If so you could so allow CEC_main.exe in the firewall which should cure the problem.

Error on startup

Clicking on it won't help, as you said 'the file is corrupted'. I would just uninstall 'Toshiba Camera Assistant' and redownload it from the internet if you need it. If you've never used it, don't worry about reinstalling it. It isn't nessisary.

Reinstall my camera assistant software

I believe the best way to re-install that is by using the Recovery CD that came with that NB. Just insert the CD, run it inside windows & it should ask you to install applications & driver. Install the camera software and/or drivers and you should be good.

Hope this helps.
