Using the onboard audio on a Gigabyte 848p-a mainboard, (believe audio chipset is realtek) installed driver package from gigabyte support archive. Device shows working fine with no conflicts but no sound, tested 2 sets of speakers and a pair of headphones

This may or may not help you. Right click on your speaker icon in your taskbar, bottom right of screen. Then' in window that appears, click on playback devices. A window should come up with your device in it. Right click on that. A window should come up and you should see "enable" or "disable". If you see enable, click on that and exit. Right click on speaker icon again and click on "open sound mixer" and adjust your volume. You also check this in "device manger" by clicking on box with + next to it "sound, audio and game controllers"

There are a couple of things to check
first if you are using the front socket on your computer case, that this is actually connected to the motherboard (sorry if this is patronizing but I dont know you obviously)...try plugging in the back for simple check of this rather than open your PC up.
click control panel classic view (if there depending on which windows you are assuming windows)
double click sounds and audio devices click audio tab
look in the sound playback drop down ensure that you sound card is selected, there may be a few variants, try different ones.
lastly click on voice tab click in voice playback volume button ensure that none of of the mixer options have mute ticked.

Fix my soiund plzzzzzzzzzz

Your problem is that you still dont install the driver or the driver which you installed its codec is not compatible - go to google and search for the actual driver for your operating system download it and install it - Check which company chipset is on your motherboard whether its realtek or sigmatel search with information over the small audio chip then easy to find the actual driver set.

Audio driver

The GA-7N400 Pro 2 uses the Realtek ALC650/655 Audio AC'97 Codec for onboard sound.

Here is the site you'll need to go to.

I would recommend that you be sure to install ALL of the basic drivers. This includes not only the audio drivers but the CHIPSET drivers as well. Especially since this is an nForce 2 board. Those boards are rather touchy. Chipset drivers will keep the system more stable and help it to run more efficiently.

You may also download more up-to-date drivers for the audio from RealTek's website at:

This should be easy... :)
