Question about Samsung RB215LASH

Open Question

I have a Samsung bottom freezer refrigerator. It has two sets of coils inside the unit, one in the freezer and one in refrigerator so there is no air flow between the two areas. I have replaced the front PCB panel which i believe controls both temperatures and all the sensors in the refrigerator but it has not stopped the refrigerator from freezing my food. The problem comes and goes. It primarily starts freezing food after it rains (I have noticed this on several occasions). What could it be? Should I start replacing sensors in the freezer? Should I look into replacing the board that controls the compressor (I believe that's what it controls).

SOURCE: My Samsung refrigerator will not cool

Call Samsung. I had the same problem when Best Buy delivered mine. The delivery people left the fridge in demo mode. The people at Samsung will talk you through it, it is very simple. The fridge should work fine then.

SOURCE: samsung refrigerator freezer not freezing

-2 although below freezing temperature, is not really enough to keep food really frozen. I am presuming we are talking in Celcuis. You need to set the freezer to a lower setpoint.

SOURCE: fridge condensation - freezer thawing

OK now I'm wondering are theses numbers your getting 4 -9 the actual temps of the refrigerator and the freezer? and do they feel this cold and correct to you? I know the refrigerator side shouldn't be below 34 or so and definitely not below 32. If this is correct and the numbers are not settings but temps. (Now if you have a touch pad its electronic. If it has knobs it has a separate defrost and thermostat and are electro-mechanical)
If electronic Your control board and possibly defrost control are out.
It would more likely be the sensors going to the board(s) It will both sensors have the possibility of causing your problem. 1 will control the run of the compressor (and this one could and probably is connected to the inside coil) and 1 will control the air damper tween the refdg and freezer compartments, and may turn on the inside fan operation too.

(this would be my first suspect if these are degrees numbers). Look at the thermostat control see if it is attached to the indoor coil (usually the tube leavign the indoor section. If its not attached its not sensing the coil temp and when goes into defrost wala its not senmsing temps like its designed to do. Look for a broken clip or possible a plastic wire tie that holds this sensor in place.

Please get back to me with what you see - find on this look up.

Access is from the rear, but make sure the vents on the front grill are not clogged also because it does need front to rear air flow.

Your unit has two evaporator coils and two defrost heaters and two defrost thermostats, but uses one defrost timer circuit. So if you don't have trouble with the freezer side, then it should be the defrost heater or defrost thermostat for the refrigerator side of your unit. Which are items 1-2 and 1-4 on the following diagram.

I have a bottom freezer model that also freezes on top! I've cleaned the coils underneath (and it was pretty bad), and that seemed to work for about a week, but now the unit seems to run alot even though...

cleaning the coils is always a good idea, that's how the unit disipates the heat it pumps from the inside of the box. clean coils make it work more efficiently. Frosty suggests a door gasket leak, allowing fresh, moisture ladden air in, that turns to frost. Runs all the time- check door gaskets. they are replaceable. Could also be a bad thermostat. thermostat is running the fridge, trying to reach the set temperature but won't shut off when it reaches it. Unplug the fridge or shut off the breaker is easier. (good wiring practice mandates a dedicated circuit for refrigerators). change the thermostat.

Does the model cool by allowing cold air from the freezer into the refrigerator or does it have separate cooling equipment like some sub zero's? Is there something blocking air flow from the freezer to the refrigerator?

We have a samsung rf266abbp and the freezer is ultra frosty. this just started this week. the unit is about 1 year old. does it need to be defrosted. if so, how?

Hi, if freezer is icing up, you might have a defrost problem. Frost free models have a heating element that is controlled by a timer to automatically defrost ice, defrost timer turns on defrost heating element every 12 hours to melt ice in freezer and allow good air flow.
You can test defrost element with an ohm meter(located inside freezer coils-will have two wires going to a plug connection), if OK replace defrost timer (located in various places depending on make and model)

Take care

Refigerator is not cooling properly. Temp

Refrigerator or freezer is not cold enough check this part:

* Check the temperature setting
* Assure that there is enough room for air flow in the refrigerator or freezer
* Check for air flow restrictions in vents
* Test the temperature control
* Clean the condensor coils
* Check the door seals
* Test the door switch
* Test defrost heater
* Test defrost timer
* Test evaporator fan
* Check for a clogged drain tube
* Check for refrigerant leak

Refrigerator is not cooling or freezing?

take the plastic vent strip off the front side of the bottom of the unit and vacuum the coils there also. If not all the dust/dirt comes off, get a refrigerator coil brush at any hardware store, and brush the remaining dirt loose. Vacuum again.

Check for air blockage inside the refrigerator and freezer. A freezer acan be over packed and air flow be blocked as can a refrigerator.

Temperature in fridge wont set,for example,trying to set at+4,but keeps reverting back to +12,FOOD NOT CHILLING...Any help appreciated...thanks

freezers have a defrost mode for the coil and it is on a timer, it may be bad. if it is, the coil will freeze with the moisture it pulls from the freezer and not let air pass over it. also, the coil located at the bottom of the unit may simply be dirty.

Samsung RB215BSSB refrigerator freezes up

I had a similar problem where my evaporator coil was freezing into a block of ice, which caused my fridge to warm up due to a lack of air flow. I fixed this by doing a few things. I replaced the circuit board ($100) which was easy to do. Unfortunately, this didn't fix my problem so I took the inner fridge cover off to view the evaporator/heater coil assembly. I checked my thermo fuse and found it to be open (failed). I ordered the thermo fuse and the thermistor and replaced them both. I then plugged the fridge back up and put a regular thermometer inside the fridge to get an accurate reading of inside temp. A few days now and everything looks good. The board, fuse, and thermistor were all pretty easy to replace.

Refrigerator stopped working, freezer works fine

I turned off the refrigerator and left the freezer door open so the coils and the vents could thaw out. The cold air was not getting to the refrigerator section because of ice blocking the vents.
