If it takes oil, you should use air compressor oil or, if you cannot find this product at your full service auto parts store, use SAE 30 non detergent.

I have a sears air compressor model 919.167310. I just replaced the run capacitor as it would not run and it was tripping the breaker. When I plug it in with not air in the tank, it will run fine, fill to...

Hi,
If you have had the capacitor checked and all running fine, then the next thing to check would be the check valve, there should be a pipe that goes from your pressure switch to the tank, at the tank-end of this pipe, there should be the check valve. When there is no pressure in the tank! unscrew the check valve remove the spring and valve and check it is clean and servicable. Put it back together then try your compressor again.
If there is no improvement, are you running your compressor with an extension lead? try plugging it into the wall directly, you can lose vital power through a long lead. Also, ensure you don;t have too many machines running whilst you are using your compressor, this could be the problem, as they may be using most of the power

Finally, if you have checked all the above, then you may want to get your motor checked out, to me it sounds like a power issue from what you tell me.

Try the above, and let me know how you get on

Thanks Carl

While using my compressor (Husky WL65004AJ) the compressor used to go on when the pressure dropped down to about 85-90 psi. Now it doesn't. The only way that I can build up the pressure again is to shut...

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly. I tried several places too cross this model number: WL65004AJ without success. The pressure switch has 2 settings one for HIGH cutoff and one for LOW cycle on. 1/2 of your pressure switch is not functioning properly. With the proper model number I could find a source for the pressure switch for you. There are a couple of different types of presure switchs, One is a stand alone switch on the air plumbing with no external controls (under $30.00) and one is an all-in-one switch that has the on off switch and air lines connected to it that runs around $86.00. You need a pressure switch.... it is just a matter of finding out which one fits your model and replacing it.
Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Hi i have an Ingersoll rand 80 gal, 7.5 hp, model #2475 air compressor and the electric motor is arcing when trying to run then blows the breaker. Any ideas? thanks

It sounds like either a problem with the brushes in the motor or the engine shaft is jammed. Have you on many previous occasions run the compressor on that circuit with no problems? It may be as simple as the breaker is not sufficient for the power draw of the compressor.

If you have had the unit for awhile and it has been run lots and the engine shaft spins easily when turned by hand (unplug first) then it may be an issue with the brushes on the electric motor. Take the engine apart and replace the brushes with new ones from an electric motor shop. Take pictures as you disassemble the unit so you will be able to refer to them when it comes time for reassembly.

If the motor shaft does not turn by hand, remove the belt that connects it to a compressor and try again. If this works, reconnect the power and see if the electric motor now works with power on and the belt off. If the motor works and there is no short to throw the breaker, then your compressor is in need of a rebuild and that will cost money and time.

I have a 2004 2.0L Jetta. It's stalling when the A/C is on. Some recommended I change the fan relay, which I am trying to locate. Can anyone help? Thanks :o) Margaret

Positive it's not a fan problem...
It's common that it could be that your throttle body or MAF (mass air flow sensor) is dirty. Had a tune up lately? Air filter, spark plugs?
If your throttle body or MAF is dirty, your car's computer is already trying to compensate for lack of proper airflow - turning the a/c on is more than it can handle. How does it run when a/c is off? If it's a little loopy at idle you may also need new spark plugs too.

Air compressor won't stay running even with resetting

How quickly does it shut off? Is it reaching the turn off psi? or is it immediate.
If it is immediate then it is probably a power supply issue.
Air compressors are power hogs. For instance, a compressor may work fine on an outlet using the supplied power cord, but plug it into an extension cord that is insufficient for it and a repeat of your problem will occur. If you use an extension cord make sure it is made just for this kind of application. Also, if possible, give the compressor a dedicated circuit.
Another problem might be your unloader valve not working correctly. This reliefs the pressure inside the pump after the motor has stopped. it would sound like the pump is working extra hard at start-up.

HI,

if the compressor is running your ref. should be getting cold. Their is a defrost timer but when it is in defrost the compressor shuts off. I think you do have a leak.

thanks,
